I am going to start the list with one example headlined below. As hard as I know it will be, because I know there were and still are so many ridicules rules; please respond with only ONE example. If we follow the criteria requested, of responding with just one senseless rule; this should allow for, and result in, a greater number of participants. If one calender day goes by and there is something else that you want to add that hasn't already been listed, by all means do so. Once again, I am trying this method in an attempt to boost participation.
Ludicrous rule #1: For years and years the NTCC leadership refused to allow church members to go out and eat with ministers after fellowship meetings. I complained about that rule constantly to at least two different pastors. I was told by one pastor that when I went to Bible school, I would understand the reason for separating church members from eating with ministers. I told him that it didn't matter how they justified the rule; I wouldn't understand because it didn't make sense. He did not like my response at all. Oh well! This went on for about 6 years and fellowship meeting attendance dropped through the floor. Finally right before I left the NTCC, they changed the rule so that you could go eat with ministers after fellowship meetings. Imagine that; silly me all along. Can you spell a "KNEE JERK REACTION", which is what started the rule in the first place?
This should be not only a fun, but also an eye opening thread.
Jeff
Ok...this might not be a big deal but I remember....
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I am worshipping the Lord I like to dance.
And one of the things I loved was that the women could dance with other women or the men could dance with other men. Until Davis made a big stink about people thinking we were gay for dancing with someone of the same sexual orientation. I mean come on how stupid can one person be? Oh wait.. don't answer that question. I already know the answer.. pretty stinking stupid!
Oh oh(waving hand frantically) I have a good one (its hard to keep it at just one Jeff!)
ReplyDeleteWhen someone leaves the church(peacefully or not) you are not allowed to talk to them. Why!!!?? You have nothing in common...yes I know you served with them side by side in the Army during multiple deployments....but you have nothing in common!!! Yes I know they were there for you when you took emergency leave....but you have nothing in common!!!
When you see them walking down the street, you should cross the street(even if it includes jaywalking)to not talk to them. Using this technique will cause their continence to fall and they will be at the church doors banging...begging for repentance. So love hating them back to the Lord!!
If that doesn't sound cult like...
Waiting to Exhale
This one is the famous dumbest rule. Getting permission. You have to wait until after Church. Get in a Line, like a school child. Ask one man(MK) if you could have some friends over for supper,or go shopping with another lady, even call someone on the phone. The restriction that was put on us. To make us feel inferior to a very few that runs ntcc. Keep us in our place. These men,are supposed to know more then us. About another fellow Human being. Like they can see into our souls and know if someone is bad to be around.
ReplyDeleteReally they want to restrict who we talk to and how often we meet up. So we don't get to familiar with each other. Then start to share our concerns about what goes on in ntcc. And if we talk to each other, and we all start putting two and two together. Then everyone would be leaving in droves!!
I remember one time. I was in a car accident. A sister called to get permission on a state patrol officers phone. To see if she was allowed to follow me home. I then rushed in,got ready for class. The next day was in the hospital and missed night of classes.
Crazy hoopes we all jumped through. And people now come on and say. Oh you don't have to do such and such. If you feel it is wrong. AS IF! You don't do what rw wants, then there is the door!
CM
How about the 'policy' if you lived in one of Pastor Davis many houses you had to get permission from Rev. Kekel for immediate family to stay with you (we had two bedrooms), and IF it was granted, it could not be for more than a few days? Absurd.
ReplyDeleteAnd you couldn't miss church, or take off from work {without getting permission from Rev, Kekel...but you had to save all your vacation days for conferences anyway) to spend time with them, or show them around.
If you had two cars (most could only afford one), you could not all park in your driveway, because two cars was the limit (the driveway was not long enough for three, and the 'policy' was you could not park on the road, or have a car sticking out of your driveway}. So you had to drop one of your cars off somewhere else, so they could park. For which you also had to get permission from Rev. Kekel.
You couldn't even take them over to Pastor Davis Mansion to meet him, because his Mansion was off limits. You could just point to it, as it loomed behind the 7 foot, double boarded (staggered so you couldn't 'peek' through...well you could look through the 6 to 7 foot, iron security gate, that guarded the entrance to his Mansion's driveway), wooden privacy fence, and say, "This is where my Pastor lives," as cheerfully as you could. But mostly, your pre-approved guests would ask you, "Who lives there?" before you could say anything
Of course they could meet him at church if they decided to go, during which Pastor Davis, and company, would 'preach' many things that your family would want you to explain after church. You couldn't bring them to fellowship afterward either (not that they would want to go, after the service they just went to), as this was not allowed, as another of NTCC's 'policies.'
You couldn't ever invite anyone over for dinner from work, or that you met, unless you knew their car did not leak oil, and you had received permission from Rev. Kekel. If they had an old car that leaked oil, they were not wanted by Pastor Davis, because no oil spots were allowed on the driveway (and they checked, we put a piece of plywood on our driveway under our vehicles).
We were always struggling to come up with a reasonable explanation (and cash) for all the 'policy' we had to strictly observe.
I find it troubling the very one you had to ask permission from (Rev. Kekel), was the very one who recently told us all these rules, and regulations, were just 'policy.' Yet, he rarely (if ever) told any of us, when it was our turn in the often long line, "You didn't need to ask me this (whatever this was), just pray about it, and do what seems pleasing to God." Very incongruous.
In His Service,

CM,
ReplyDeleteHow long would you guys wait in line to talk to MK?
WTE
Over in Korea I was chastized by Rev MacDonald for talking to an attractive single female sister at a Korean fellowship meeting.
ReplyDeleteHis respose was, "Brother, I saw you talking to sister so and so. Did you ask Rev ___ permission to speak to her?" "No, Sir".
That sister was one good looking lady, one of the few that caused me to do a double take.
That's OK, though. God blessed me with a lady - an ANGEL better than her, even at the time I thought SHE was the ONE!!
Just goes to show there are plenty of fish in the sea!!
Bro Johnson
God blessed me with a lady too.
ReplyDeleteNTCC would disapprove of her though because she wears pants.
She isn't a hypocrite though (like some in NTCC) and has more missions work along with her family. And God even supports her financially from strangers who just send her money.
Uh-oh the above just made me think. The way mission support is done with them is people send them money directly.
Since NTCC doesn't do it that way, I wonder where all the missions money goes to ?
Hmmmm......
OK, here's a rule: If your child was having a birthday party, they were not allowed to have more than TWO kids over to the party. And you needed to get PERMISSION for those two. Of course, Grant Kekel could have as many as he wanted for his birthday party.
ReplyDeleteOK, here's another one. I'm posting anonymously so I won't get in trouble with Jeff for breaking his one comment only RULE! lol
ReplyDeleteIf a brother's car broke down and he needed a ride to work, you couldn't give him one without-- you guessed it-- PERMISSION!! And you weren't going to get Permission at 7:00 in the morning. So he couldn't go to work.
Anon (hehe)
Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI have to say I can understand up to a POINT why NTCC mandated that brothers do not talk to sisters.
It could have been initiated due to honest intentions of trying to protect sisters from men of prey (or women, some of those sisters were of a different persuasion).
Come on, NTCC you can do better than that. Like Jeff said, did Adam have to ask God for PERMISSION to talk to Eve?
If I recall my BIBILE correctly God was the one who initated the correspondence between the two.
Lets look at this from a different angle: Some minster's wives try to play matchmaker, and some folks are just kidding themselves by denying this.
Rev MacDonald at one point tried to talk my wife out of marrying me! (You don't want to marry Brother Johnson, do you?) That is what my wife told me, and she don't lie.
Looks like the mind game did not work, our 9TH wedding anniversary is coming up this month!!
Bro Johnson
Oh one more thing:
ReplyDeleteI never liked dancing around a bunch of guys anyway.
I'd prefer to grab a sister's hand! (When I was single, cut out the snickering!)
Bro Johnson
How about these rules:
ReplyDelete1. If you do not pay your tithe
, your not going to Heaven!!
2. If you do not have a white shirt and tie, you CANNOT led song service!!
3. You cannot call another minister of another church without permission!
4. You cannot talk to another brother at another church without permission.
5. You cannot pray with your headgear on. You must take any headgear off. (Sorry, when I have my K-Pot on I am going to pray)!
6. You cannot touch sister so and so in any way while dating. No playing footsie.
7. You do not date a sister UNLESS you plan on marrying her. I kid you not. I am not making this up!!
8. You have to be faithful to our organization for one year prior for a letter of recommendation from the preacher to attend Bible School
Bro Johnson
Brother Jeff,
ReplyDeleteI just remembered something. Rev Davis personally ruined the aspirations of one Indian family that attended NTCC in Seoul, Korea.
There was one Christian brother, Brother Ravendran, who attended NTCC with his wife and two little girls. They were faithful to the house of God for one year (well, at least to NTCC). The brother was from India and wanted to pioneer a NTCC work in India (could you imagine? NTCC of India).
Well, he asked Rev MacDonald for a Letter of Recommendation to attend the NTCC Bible College. When Rev MacDonald asked Rev Davis, Rev Davis said "NO".
Rev Davis, Sir, what about your vision for reaching a lost world for Christ? here you have a man willing to sacrifice his family to start a work in India and you snub him out before he could even get started.
I never saw the Brother again after Rev Davis said no. NTCC wasted one year of this precious family's time.
Bro Johnson
Here's a rule sent in by Brian Pelfrey:
ReplyDeleteYou are NOT allowed to bring a Bible to church service.
(Davis told us over and over again that he did not want us showing up to church with a BIBLE! He hated it when he would be reading a scripture and someone had the audacity to follow along. As if, they did not trust him. So he outlawed the Bible in church. You wouldn't get kicked out of church over it, but you would be put down for doing it. It finally got to the point where Davis just does not tell you where in the Bible he is reading from-- which is pretty strange when you have brought a visitor to church, who has a Bible, and the preacher won't tell him where he is reading from).
**And Bro. Johnson, because you posted more than ONE RULE, Jeff wants to see you in his office RIGHT AWAY!! LOL
You can't work in the nursery, sing in the choir, etc unless you attend every single last function at an NTCC church and the Pastor knows you are right with God...
ReplyDeleteIn woodbrook at least..
Also don't go on a spure of the moment 3 day vacation without telling the Pastor otherwise he will have a heart attack and leave 20 messages on your phone (which you turned off while you were enjoying your time with your kids)
No inviting homeless people to church.
ReplyDeleteThat's right No Homeless!! We only want people with MONEY in ntcc!
ReplyDeleteAnd no people on Welfare either! **(This rule does not apply to the NTCC St. Louis church, because the whole congregation is on welfare).
ReplyDeleteBut, IF someone on welfare happens to get in, make sure they pay tithe on their food stamps.
Casey
We were allowed to bring our Bibles at all the NTCC's I have been in (3). Maybe there in WA it was looked down upon, which seems rather off to begin with.
ReplyDeleteCatholics don't bring their Bibles either as it's all printed out for the rest of the year as to how GOD is going to speak to these people with the little Misselete right in front of them.
Rev. Gandy wouldn't let me work nursury after I didn't attend church for a week or so. I was trying to sort things through (spiritually) and one day he calls up asking when they will see me again and I said "tonight, I have nursery anyway and his reply was 'don't bother, we will have a real sister to do it' ".
That hurt at the time, but I got over it. Didn't go back to child care though. Guess my name was taken off the list.
I don't hold anything against Rev. Gandy though.
Anyone know of how this year's conference went?
My friend went, said something like 'you know the spirit of GOD is in the house when an 80 year old man (Rev Davis) gets up and starts dancing'.
May you all have a safe and productive weekend ~

ReplyDeletei think they may have mis-interpreted that. it may have been his demon that had him dancing about

Another NTCC 'policy' was...You cannot 'borrow' anything without permission. And Pastor Davis means anything...Not a cup of sugar, a lawn mower, tire jack, sprinkler head, gas can, typing paper (for notes), plates for extra company, etc.
ReplyDeleteI have many more rules to list but Jeff's one rule posted per day, per person 'policy' prevents this.
You know what? I just prayed about it, and it seems pleasing to God, so I am going to post another one...

I know why....They just announced at conference that the video game Dance Revolution is no longer a sin!
OK EVERYBODY- LISTEN UP!!
ReplyDeleteI told Jeff how we were all breaking his RULE-- the one where we are only suppose to post ONE, and only ONE comment per day. He said to tell you that he's taking away all of our minister's licenses, and calling a special class tonight, to deal with this serious issue of not following THE RULE! The Rulebreakers will be dealt with! How dare any of you question the authority of Jeff in making this rule-- regardless if it was stupid rule. The fact is-- God put Jeff here to make sure we ALL follow the rules, and by NOT following his rules we are undermining his leadership. If you REALLY loved God- you would have followed the rule. Of course, since I am one of his favorites I will NOT be punished for breaking the Rules-- but hey, that's the way it goes in these cult type of organizations.
Also, if you ever want to get back into the good graces of Jeff-- after breaking his ONE rule-- you will have to wash his car, shine his shoes and clean his house until he decides you are sincerely repentent enough to be trusted again.
And one more thing-- Notes are due tonight, and Pastor WILL be checking!!!!
(Just kidding of course)
So does that mean since I am not a minister that I won't ever get my license? *cries* LOL.
ReplyDeleteI haven't shinned shoes since I was in ROTC and I refuse to buy shoes that have to be shinned.
As for washing cars. I don't wash mine. I take it to the car wash and let them wash it for me.
As for cleaning his house...bring it on I used to do it for a living I am a super duper clean freak so I won't miss a thing! Now he just has to buy me an airline ticket. And pick me up at the airport! LOL!
Immediately after posting service, I want a meeting with all posters. Casey, pdq, Bro J, Angie and Casey again because he posted Anonymously so he wouldn't get caught breaking the rules. Like Casey said, I am taking minister licenses from anyone who has one left.
ReplyDeleteI am also going to post a list, dis-fellowshipping ALL rule breaking posters from this blog because you broke the rules. This must be a conspiracy to start the House Of Blog.
If you have a problem my blog you have a problem with me, and if you have a problem with me you have a problem with GAWD!!!
I am going to start moderating this blog and anyone who wants permission to post must stand in line at my front door and no fellowshipping allowed until you leave my property. Only two cars in my driveway at one time and I don't want oil spills.
Rev Jeff
I saw someone say something about asking permission to borrow anything. How about this one? Let's say you are wandering around the city hunting for garage sales (a huge favorite of mine hehe) and you happen across a really big one. So you stop, park, get out, and then discover that the garage sale is being put on by a fellow minister's wife. You have to either get back in your car, or hope that someone is available when you call to ask for permission to shop at the garage sale. Argh
ReplyDeleteJM
Here was a BIG rule at the BS in Graham: No talking or fellowshipping in the parking lot after church or class. Just leave church, get in your car and go home.
ReplyDelete(Why can't you talk to someone outside in the parking lot? I mean, you can't talk to them during church. I guess Davis thinks you are plotting a rebellion).

You may not have any life insurance since you banned NTCC ministers from having it.
Hey here is a question: Can Rev Davis get Social Security? He has not paid into the system, has he??
Can minsters get Social Security? It is not like they pay taxes on the money they collect.
Any takers on this question? I am trying to redeem myself from being sent to detention by Rev Jeff by appearing to act super spiritual!!
Oh, by the way - Don't worry Dawn. Gandy does not know a gem from a used candy wrapper which you are!!
Judging by the quality of sisters available to watch the kiddies, none were qualified in my book. I could only take my son Daniel crying only so many times. Kids tell the truth in their eyes, they do not need to say a thing.
That is why my children stayed with me (well, at the time, Daniel). Charity's Birth signaled the end of NTCC. Young-mi and I decided that when she was born, our relationship with NTCC would die.
Now, Sister Heather was the exception to the rule. She was a quality sister who got genuinely saved in Korea and I can testify to that fact. She has a heart of gold, which is really saying something considering her and John do not have kids but she loves other children as her own.
Remember when it used to rain at Junction City and those big earthworms would be all over the pavement? Kind of poetic, don't you think?
In retrospect, God can use even earthworms to testify of the mockery that was NTCC in Junction City, KS.

RULES, RULES, RULES. When you are in ntcc (especially if you are a minister or minister's wife) there are so many rules it makes your head spin. Basically, you can't do ANYTHING without PERMISSION! Ntcc does it's best to micromanage your life. And then they say they aren't a cult, but they act like one. But think about this-- the very ones that Davis is training to be "leaders" and "men/women of Gawd", and "will rule as kings and priests with God" are the same ones he doesn't trust one iota, and therefore he has concocted this huge list of rules which must be obeyed at all costs, because they can't be trusted to "do the right thing". Think about it-- Davis doesn't trust saved, Holy Ghost-filled people to do the right thing-- therefore they must be controlled with rules.
ReplyDeleteThen what happens is... these people graduate ntcc bs and go out and start their own church with a ton of rules-- because HG filled, Christian church members can't be trusted to do the right thing. And these students are told in bs that the rules are for bs students and ministers ONLY-- but what do they do? They make their church members jump through all kinds of hoops with rules!! That is why Ramirez can tell Bro. Johnson (who is not a minister) who he can date and who he can't. They want to control EVERY aspect of your life. They even want to control who you marry. (And by the way, Bro. Johnson, Rev. Bradeen did the same thing to me-- he told me that I shouldn't marry Iris, because she was Puerto Rican! And I believed at the time that Davis made him do it. Well, we've been married for 20 years now).
All these rules are a cult mentality people. If you are thinking about joining an ntcc church-- well, kiss your freewill (and your freedom) goodbye.
Another rule was no computers in the serviceman's homes. All the way up to around 2005 pastors could not use computers for their reports in the serviceman's homes. They had to use those old broke down word processors. I know because I witnessed it in the home in Columbus Ga. Stupid rule it was.
ReplyDeleteAnother rule was no typing up soul winning reports that had to be turned in to the pastor and they had to be written TWICE over by hand. I was part of this garbage in the Atlanta church under Mayers. An extensive amount of time was wasted with following this utterly stupid rule.
Another rule was repeatedly having to go back and knock on the same doors at the same apartment complex until someone answered or until the pastor gave us permission to stop. We would have to go back to the same apartment complex 3 or 4 weeks in a row just for 5 doors that no one answered.
Another rule was we could not go home until we turned in the soul winning reports, written by hand after we had spent half the day out soul winning. The pastor made us write the garbage out in Wendy's. What a bunch of garbage that Mayers dished out and he got it from Kekels soul winning class at conference. I heard Kekel teach it. I can't stand those guys because of all that garbage that we endured. When I think about it I can't believe what we were put through and what we allowed ourselves to be put through. Kekel and many of these NTCC guys and gals are the biggest creeps that I ever met.
Another rule was no turning on the air conditioning in the serviceman's home without asking permission. An overseer even got annoyed when he walked into this hot serviceman's home and insisted that the AC be turned on.
Jeff the rule maker who just broke his own rules. Jeff the double standard maker. Sound familiar?
Does anyone know why the restrooms on the campground. Never had toliet paper. And for the longest time. You had to carry some kind of napkin, tissue's in your purse. Then, there was toliet tissue. But no holder for them. Yucky ,wet toliet tissue.
ReplyDeleteNot really a rule. Rw did not like us to have to many convience's. No mirrors in ladies bathrooms. No toliet tissue in Campground bathrooms.

Someone asked, back a few post. How long did we have to stand in line. Not sure why that matters. It was the point that we had to STAND IN LINE ! To ask permission. Like a little kid. A child had more freedom and free will. Then we did.
ReplyDeleteI hated asking Mike K. for permission. If I wanted to have a lady over during the day to visit. Get in line,or catch him on the phone. I preferred the phone. Felt so stupid standing in line. And then you have to not stand to close while he is talking with another bro or sis. As if your trying to easedrop! AS IF!
Just shows how arrogant Mike K. really is. And how much of a double talker he is. My Momma told me,a tangle web of lies, when you first decieve. You ALWAYS get caught when your lieing. They will get caught. I hope folks still in ntcc. Catch on,the fog lifts and they realize how much they have been lied to!
OK. Got to end here. Getting hot under the collar. Just thinking of how stupid they made us look.
Like puppets on a string!

I plan to double cross about half of the blog members here. Half have already agreed to split with me and start the "HOUSE OF BLOG" You are either with me or you are against me. I can no longer stay with your compromising rule breakers like rule breaker Casey. He actually watched a DVD last night when he should have been blogging. You didn't pray about it enough before you decided to break the rules and watch a DVD when you should have been praying; I mean posting.
ReplyDeleteI plan to start my own Bible, I mean blogger school in Savannah. It will be a four year college, I mean school where you will be awarded a bachelors of blogger degree that can only be used in the House Of Blog. If you ever go back to the Anti NTCC blog your Bachelors of Blog transcript from the House of Blog will be no good. Who is with me? Everyone in the Anti NTCC blog is going to hell. If you want to make it to heaven you must leave the rule breaking compromising Anti NTCC blog and go with the House Of Blog. I am double crossing rule breaker, compromiser Casey.
Are you with me Bro J, Dawn, Angie, L.T.? I don't know if I can trust pdq. He disobeyed me and fellowshipped with rule breaker Casey. I know God will keep it from rule breaker Casey that I am going to double cross him. Olson, I mean pdq will stand by rule breaker Casey and proclaim that God kept if from him which is how I will get away with taking many bloggers with me to start the House of Blog.
Rule Breaker Casey: Make sure that you give the 39 acres to your boy Brian Pelfrey because God won't be needing it anymore once I take half of our blog members with me to start the House of Blog.
Rev Jeff the rule maker, double crosser, flip flopper, church member abuser.
P.S. This all may sound funny and for now it is, but when you sit back and think about it, it is actually quite sad because all the ridicules stuff that we have written has some very direct relevance to the NTCC.

You know what CM? I don't blame you a bit because it is absolutely ridicules to have to stand in line to ask permission of Mike Kekel for anything. It is totally absurd. They made that "RULE" because they are a bunch of CONTROL MONGERS and CONTROL FREAKS. They are authoritarians to the hilt. Kekels Communist party is exactly what it is because there are folks that have more freedoms in Communist China than in the NTCC. Stand in line to ask Kekel for permission. What a joke.
Jeff
Aww how nice of you Preacherman Jeff to let Bro Johnson back in the fellowship. I guess he washed and detailed your car and took your dog for a walk to get back 'in' huh?
ReplyDeleteWell Peacher Jeff...maybe I will go with Casey because you see I watched the news about an hour ago as I was wanting to know more about the tornado outbreak coming to our area...and then I sat there and listened for 15 minutes as the Dallas Cowboys training stadium collapsed (so far no one died...just injured).
But I promise you I turned it off right after that Sir! :)
Hmmm will your church make me dress in dress suits off the racks of Dillards and Macy's or can I get away with my Plain dresses?
Are denim skirts okay or are they still used for only washing the floors (Rev. Gandy told me that)?
Is this going to be a KJV only church? Nothing wrong with that, just asking.
Are me and Angie going to have to pair up and go door to door 7 days per week or walk around WalMart pretending we are buying something when we are not?
I think handing out tracts and just being real with folks is alot better. But you're the preacherman!
Angie...if you get paired up with me for soulwinning you better take off those man trousers and git yerself in wimmins clothes, ya hear! :-)
To: Dawn,
ReplyDeletePsshawwww... I don't know if I can be your partner there dear. Although I own dresses and skirts that are knee length or longer I don't wear them unless I feel the need which is basically almost never(thanks to NTCC mostly)! I wear womens dress slacks so sorry!
But I do dress modestly and presentable. I have a lot of woman type business suits. So I should be ok ya think?
Also I agree I don't like the whole door to door thing that drives me nuts. Handing out tracts and being real sounds more productive to me.
To: Rev Jeff the rule maker, double crosser, flip flopper, church member abuser.
My husband is taking me to the movies tonight (If I can find one that I want to go see otherwise we are staying home to relax). So I won't be showing up for church or soulwinning tonight. Sorry! Please don't call my phone 20 times leaving messages freaking out if I am ok or not. I like to take off like this and get a break once in a while when stress levels are too high.
God bless, Laughing, business suit wearing, soulwinning hater, Angie

*************
Well Angie you broke at least four rules with that statement.
#1 No alone time with your spouse.
#2 Missing church
#3 Missing soul winning
#4 The movies? You have got to be kidding me. You sinner woman.
There you go at least 3 more rules……
Hey everyone,
ReplyDeleteCorrect me if I am wrong: But, the Bible-College-rules-are-for-the-Bible-College-only 'policy' was only instituted about seven years ago.
Before this, NTCC's churches (civilian and military) were run EXACTLY like the Bible college. With Pastor Davis' and the overseers full knowledge and approval.
So for 33 years (Midwestern Bible Institute was started in 1969) NTCC churches were run EXACTLY like the Bible College.
pdq
I would like to report that the movie was good! We saw the new x-men movie.
ReplyDeleteTO: L. Travis, I know I know but it feels soo good to break those rules.... haha!
New stupid rules to add to your list Jeff
.. No having tv's in your home, add that with no watching DVD's on your computers. Add no sinner net to that too!
But I seen kids running around with gameboys. And I knew of families that had x-boxes hooked up to their computers so they could play games...totally doesn't make any sense! A sister stayed with me for a while and she used to watch DVD's on her laptop all the time. I never told anyone cuz I didn't care. But the Sister she stayed with before me tattled on her left and right.
FYI NO ONE LIKES A TATTLE TAIL YOU LOOSE FRIENDS THAT WAY! Oh snap! I just tattled *chuckles*
I have a few TV's (I hear this rule has recently been changed)
I have a DVD player attached to every TV I have (I hear that rule has been changed as well)
I also have the internet (I hear that rule may have been changed as well as has been evidenced by all the NTCCer's I still see online)
Also going to the movies is now allowed according to someone I know who is still in NTCC.
o.O
Going to the movies is allowed now??!!!
ReplyDeleteWow!!
WTE
Bye the way, If you brought a contact out of the opposite sex you can NOT sit with them during service! Just pass them off to the unsuspecting brother or sister!
ReplyDeleteMLJ
I must say after I left NTCC I had a lot of movie catching up to do (ten years worth!!) Isn't that sad??
ReplyDeleteInmates in prison have more freedoms than folks who go to NTCC!!
By the way I took my son Daniel to see Monsters and Aliens at the movies last week! It was great! Plus we got to wear 3D glasses. Cool!!
That was the start of many more father and son get togethers, not allowed in NTCC!!
Bro Johnson
Bottom line up front:
ReplyDeleteANY NTCC Rule is a joke and is not Biblical. If it is not allowed, that means you can do it!!
By the way I made a rule: I will NOT drink any more sodas until 2010 so I can fight my expanding wasteline. This rule is self imposed, so you all are NOT allowed to drink sodas or Diet Coke!!
The last time I went on a soda fast it happened after I left NTCC and lasted three years. Around that time, Red Bull came out. I honestly thought it was alcoholic and of course, did not drink it. It is my favorite drink now!!!
Bro Johnson, yes Jeff, I am with you!!!
Bro Johnson
pdq,
ReplyDeleteBack in the day the rules applied to everyone. That was one of the unspoken rules I was referring too.
Unspoken rules are things that are expected of you. If you don't follow them you are a big let down.
My pastor was pushing me to go back to bible school. I wasn't ready and quess what the next sermon was about? Yep it might as well been titled LTravis you let me down. Quess what I NEVER ASKED FOR YOUR HELP!!!
Ok so yea stupid rules. They were innumerable.

Here's another rule "You have to ask permission to visit your immediate family". I wonder if Debbie and Becky Johnson have to ask permission to visit one another. My sister and I had to always ask permission. We were minister's wives and had been around a long time. I had to ask permission to stay over night at my sister's house when my parents came to see us in Wa. Even then when I asked I was told did I really need to be there? What kind of idiotic question is that!?!
ReplyDeleteFirst of all I didn't get to visit my parents often. But when I did visit I had a great time. But for them to try to deny me family time.I was told if I stayed over night the other women in the dorm would be jealous. For goodness sakes I was a 33yr. old woman. None of them never had family come visit them. I living in the dormitory I spent my own finances to buy food and cooked it for them.I knew the women were not like that but they threw it out there anyway. I was floored, but what could I do back then? I went anyway cause it was important to me to be with my parents.

What a bunch of crap.
pdq,
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you are correct about the BS rules applying to everyone in the past.
mlj,
I totally forgot about the "You can't sit with the opposite sex, even if you work with them and brought them out to church" rule. THAT was very awkward. Also, for many years women sat on one side of the church and men on the other. That was also something hard to explain to a visitor.
Here was another rule-- If you DID decide to go visit your family during Christmas, you could not join them in any worldly activities-- like tv, playing pool, Yatzee or Monopoly (because you had to throw.... DICE!). Dice, in ntcc, are considered evil. Any games involving dice were not allowed, or you had to make a spinner. (How are you suppose to win at craps with a spinner?! Just kidding! LOL)
Here is a rule breaker:
ReplyDeleteNO Christmas trees in your house during Christmas time (it is of the devil to worship a tree).
NO trick r treating during Halloween. DISCLAIMER: Now, this rule I do agree with. I will not give any glory to Satan, or as Hanna use to say "Sa-TAN"
I don't advocate Santa or the Easter Bunny, and don't really talk to my kids about them. Now I did tell my kids that Santa was not real. My Mom pushed on he kids the Santa lie, so I let it go, since we had been away from USA for 4 years and I did not want to cause any interal family strive.
Hanna made the exception to play Christmas music and hand a wreath during christmas time in Korea. AND hand up some lights.
I guess that was the beginning of the end for him.
HANG not hand! Good Grief!!
ReplyDeleteBro Johnson
Another unspoken rule was,
ReplyDelete(Or was we say in the Army an implied task)
You better get into the service and worship God. If everyone is clapping, jumping up and down, running around, lifting their hands and you don't go along with the crowd, there is something wrong with you, or there is SIN in the camp holding you back!!
MLJ
Another rule-- DON'T lead someone to Christ outside of the church. Just invite them out to church and the church leaders will do it for you. God forbid someone might get saved while not in ntcc yet.
ReplyDeleteTo the last ANON poster....That is the stupidest rule ever! Considering I knew a few NTCC Pastors that claim they were saved outside of NTCC and then found NTCC shortly after. How could they in their right mind enforce a rule that didn't even apply to them?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous said...

Another reason that rule was so ridicules is because NTCC pastors are so ineffective at not only winning people, but they are even worse at keeping people that start to attend church regularly.
NTCC pastors routinely run folks off because they lack of wisdom. That is why I stopped inviting people out to church. It was a virtual waste of time because the pastor would consistently run them off after they started coming regularly.
Jeff
It has become apparent that people who still attend church with the NTCC like to come on this blog.
ReplyDeleteThat is great. I know this because all last week there were people visiting this blog who were located very close to the camp ground. That has stopped now and the visits from around Graham have ramped back up.
Our message must be getting through. It's hard to avoid or refuse the truth!
Jeff
*snickers* Maybe Davis was looking for something to preach against like us exNTCCer's leaving gaawwdddd!
ReplyDeleteI forgot to mention at the Ladies get together for our church the other day. Our Pastors wife (who is also a pastor herself) taught on Women of Confidence. Which most of the women in NTCC are not very confident because they are treated like dog crap.
Recap:
ReplyDelete1 NTCC 1:1 Ridiculous rule #1 posted by JC: No eating with ministers after fellowship meetings.
1 NTCC 1:2 Ridiculous rule #2 posted by IA: No dancing with people of the same gender after it had been done for 30 years.
1 NTCC 1:3 Ridiculous rule #3 posted by WTE: Not being allowed to talk to folks as they are leaving the church.
1 NTCC 1:4 Ridiculous rule #4 posted by CM: Having to get permission to do things like follow someone home that JUST got into a car accident. WOW! WOW! WOW!
1 NTCC 1:5 Ridiculous rule #5 posted by pdq: Having to ask permission to allow a family member to stay in the house that YOU pay rent on, in cash I might add, and not being able to park more than two cars in your driveway. Another WOW! WOW! WOW!
1 NTCC 1:6 Ridiculous rule #6 brought up in a question by Anon: Grown folks having to stand in line to ask Kekel permission to do ANYTHING. What a control tactic that is. Having to stand in line to ask permission from the very person who has declared that there are no rules!!!
1 NTCC 1:7 Ridiculous rule #7 posted by Bro J: A MAN having to ask permission to talk to a WOMAN. I guess just about every man dating all the way back to ADAM broke that rule. Let adults be adults you bunch of control mongers. I guess this rule failed miserably at stopping Mike from groping Tanya when she was a young teenager.
1 NTCC 1:8 Ridiculous rule #8 posted by rule breaker Casey: No more than two kids at your birthday party unless your name is Grant. WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!
1 NTCC 1:9 Ridiculous rule #9 posted by Anonymous AKA rule breaker Casey: No giving rides to brothers without permission. WOW, WOW, WOW, WOW!!!!!!!!!
1 NTCC 1:10 Ridiculous rule #10 posted by Bro J: NTCC Pastors as a RULE, try to talk folks out of marriage or break them up. Not actually a rule but it nevertheless sounded good and Bro J wrote it while breaking my rules. He also said no calling ministers without permission. He didn’t stay on topic. I am going to have mercy on him this time. He also posted about ten more rules while breaking my rules ten more times.
1 NTCC 1:11 Ridiculous rule #11 posted by Brian Pelfrey, via rule breaker Casey: No bringing Bibles to church!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 50 Wows.
1 NTCC 1:12 Ridiculous rule #12 posted by Angie who technically hasn’t broke the rules yet. She can lead posting service this evening for not breaking the rules. No doing anything for the NTCC like teaching Sunday school, unless you are at all NTCC functions.
1 NTCC 1:13 Ridiculous rule #13 posted by Anon: No inviting homeless people to church.
1 NTCC 1:14 Ridiculous rule #14 posted by Dawn: No overseeing the nursery if you miss church too often because Gandy the JERK will say you can’t because you are not a “REAL SISTER”.
Incidentally that is a pretty serious abuse story. That ought to go on the cover of this blog!!! 100 Wows for that one.
1 NTCC 1:15 Ridiculous rule #15 posted by what would have been rule breaker pdq, but he is actually not a rule breaker because he prayed about it and it seemed good to the Lord for him to break the rule that I prayed about mandating. pdq and I learned well from the NTCC. Oh the rule: No borrowing stuff from the brothers without permission. Only a triple Wow for that one because I still say pdq broke the rules.
1 NTCC 1:16 Ridiculous rule #16 posted by exception to policy rule breaker pdq: Having to ask for by name permission to get a babysitter. I will give you thirty Wows for that one pdq you rule breaker.
1 NTCC 1:17 Ridiculous rule #17 posted by Anonymous: No owning cats because they are evil. Jeff was actually told that because cats don't have round pupils and that means that they are an evil animal like a snake that doesn't have round pupils.
1 NTCC 1:18 Ridiculous rule #18 posted by L. Travis: Organized Sports participation was prohibited. Apparently it is Ok now but it certainly WAS prohibited.
1 NTCC 1:19 Ridiculous rule #19 posted by MLJ: If you brought a contact out of the opposite sex you can NOT sit with them during service! Just pass them off to the unsuspecting brother or sister!
1 NTCC 1:20 Ridiculous rule #20 posted by Anon: Having to ask permission to visit immediate family. That is a sorry rule. Control, Control, equals a CULT.
1 NTCC 1:21 Ridiculous rule #21 posted by Anon: No leading folks to Christ outside the church. You couldn’t have a much poorer job than some of the NTCC pastors that I met.
Jeff
No going to the Dr. unless the Pastor medically interviews you first. After don't you know the Bible College doubles a medical school!!?? Psychologists are evil and people that go to them don't have the mind of Christ.
ReplyDeleteYes I know you have seen people killed, survived a motor vehicle accident or an assault, but the reason you still have nightmares is because you have secret sin in your life. You need to just get over it!!
Even if you have been to combat, it is still your fault.
Yes I know your child is sick, but people are dying and going to hell daily, because you would rather LAY OUT OF CHURCH!!!!!
BN
