I Just Replaced My Thread Numbering System With A "Recent Comments" Section Over To The Right

Thread #59
It's quite simple. It shows the 15 most recent comments throughout all the threads. You click on the comment that you are interested in reading and it directs you to the thread. Then of course you must go to the bottom of the thread because it will be either the last or one of the last comments. This is obviously easier than my prehistoric thread numbering system. I guess that is why the calculator replaced the counter device illustrated in the picture to the left. So much for my thread numbering system. There is about a one to two hour delay before your messages hit the "recent comment list".

  1. PDQ,

I posted for you on thread # 53. I think you may have lost track of it.

  2. Actually I hadn't lost track. I was actually in the process of checking my spreadsheet and comparing thread numbers and post quantity when you posted this message. Nevertheless, thank you. You see I go to a special screen named comments, and it tells the number of post on each thread. Then I compare those numbers to my own spread sheet (which I keep updated), and if I see a disparity between the two it obviously means that someone posted there. It helps me so I don't overlook good comments that I would have otherwise never found because they are posted to far back on the blog.
    I hope this helps everyone.

  3. hey jeff,
there is an easier way to allow people to keep up.

back in the layout section you can add a gadget called subscriptions.

people can choose to subscribe to "posts" or "comments" or both.

so when one is made, the person will get that info sent to their email.

  5. Yes but that can also be annoying to said person because this blog gets updated A LOT and that would make for one really full inbox... very annoying.. much easier for me to come here and read.

Also Jeff.. just to keep you updated...

Keep praying for my Dad. They gotta do some more tests for one medical prob and schedule surgery to have a stint replaced in a vein that collapsed (he had a stint put in 2 years ago in a collapsed vein and the stint collapsed). He has two medical issues going on right now. They put him on medical leave from work. And because of this his pay was cut in half (medical pay sucks just as bad as unemployment). So I am having to go back to work to help out with their bills (unlike some greedy NTCCers we actually believe in taking care of our family and we do not want to see my parents homeless or loose their house). I start back up at my old job (was on leave of absense) on Aug 30th at 9pm Mountain time. Please also pray for me. I started staying up all night to get used to the schedule, which means I am sleeping until 2 or 3 in the afternoon now. I will be working 9pm-7am 4 days a week starting on sunday nights.

Anyone who offers their prayers I greately appreciate it.

Oh and for you nay sayers.. someone can be right with God and still have medical problems so pull yourself off your pedestal.

When your family starts meaning more to you then the numbers and money coming in to your church...then you can judge me. But even then God has the final say not you!

  7. Angie,

You know, I am on this Yahoo group and there was this conversation this week about Christians getting sick / cancer / disease and what not, and this woman, I think she was Pentecostal, kept going on and on about how it's our sin that makes us have these sicknesses and diseases and our lack of faith in God, yadda, yadda, yadda,.
Needless to say, she didn't go over to well on that group and her post was put to rest real fast because we all know even the healthiest, holiest Christians end up ill and it has nothing to do with their lack of faith or sin in their lives.

Ugh...I wonder where they get that doctrine from because it's really backwards...

Will be praying for you Angie!

  8. Hey Dawn! Good message. I have had NTCC pastors who said the same thing. One NTCC pastor was really bad about trying to make you feel guilty for being sick.

Additionally there was something in his church building that messed up my throat. He would throw out these crazy innuendos to suggest that something was wrong with me i.e. it was all in my mind or I needed to go see a doctor. Needless to say I don't have that problem anymore since I left the NTCC. I'm convinced that it had something to do with his building not the least of which was the old ancient church vacuum cleaner that spewed out all kinds of smut.

Me and my wife regularly vacuumed the church building and it would always mess up my throat and sinuses. He didn't want to hear that because he wanted me and or my wife pulling church detail. He used to get agitated when I would mention the problem as if it was all in my head. I am quite confident that there was something in his building that I was allergic to including the sorry vacuum cleaner for certain.

I bought a $400 vacuum cleaner for my house with a HEPA filter and I don't have that problem. Obviously the church wasn't interested in spending very much money for a really good vacuum. He did buy another one but it wasn't that great. I used to bring my own vacuum from my house. As much money as I gave, I should have bought the church a good vacuum and deducted the cost from my tithe. Of course he would have gone through the roof if I made that decision.

I donated a $250 vacuum to a different church; the church in Columbus, right before I left the NTCC for good.

    Cool! A first-time poster!
I remember my first time. It felt so good to have a 'voice'; well, actually, it still does.

Hope you share some more Anon.
