What It Takes To Be A Con Artist

Attached to the left is the picture of a man reading from a book and raising his hand in the fashion of an orator or public speaker.  Orators can often be skilled public speakers who periodically possess strong powers of persuasion.  They can convince people to believe anything they want them to.  I heard someone make a statement on the radio just the other day that really caught my attention.   The person said, "People believe what they want to believe".  That really caught my attention and I'll tell you why.

No one wants to believe they are the victim of a con game perpetuated by a con artist.  You know why?   Because to come to that realization makes almost anyone feel stupid and gullible and who wants to believe that about themselves?   It's no fun to come to the realization that you in fact were a gullible sucker and easily manipulated.  It's no fun to realize that you were foolish enough to become the easy victim of a con artist.   I posted a message on the previous thread and I kind of liked what I posted so I figured I'd start a new thread with it.

I previously wrote...

Who knows???  With the NTCC leadership anything is possible because they certainly are masters of the cover-up and deception and that is not speculation or a conspiracy theory, that is a fact.  So I'd put nothing past the NTCC leadership which is why I entertain all accusations levied against them.  Just when you think an accusation against the NTCC leadership is too far fetched, they prove you wrong every time.  I'm not kidding.

Nothing I hear about them surprises me anymore because I have personal knowledge of so many conniving acts they've committed.  I mean these guys are crooks to the max and real deal con artists.  We throw the term "con artist" around quite often but I don't think the average NTCCer realizes how accurately that term fits the description of the NTCC leadership?  They are con artists.

Con Artist definitions:

1: A person adept at swindling by means of confidence games; a swindler.

2:  One adept at persuasion, especially at dishonest or self-serving persuasion.

3:  A person who cheats or tricks others by persuading them to believe something that is not true.

Now does that describe the NTCC leadership or what?  The first definition is outstanding.  That's the reason religious people make such good con artists.  They get you to trust them because who would doubt a soul winning Christian who teaches honesty?  Who would doubt a preacher right?  That's how they got me.  I trusted those con artist and that was the first and biggest mistake I made.  You have to gain the "confidence" of the people you con.  I know better than to trust the Kekel's or Olson but the average NTCCer trusts them blindly.  They appear to be one way but in reality they are the complete opposite.

Christ described them best:   Mat 7:15  Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.

Listen to this people and listen good!!!  Mat 7:15 is the one scripture that NTCC people ignore and overlook THE MOST!!!

This is completely true. As I stated in the last blog posting it took me 15 years to finally talk about my experience with my wife once we departed.

I felt at first the guilt but then after learning about the org I felt like a complete moron. Feeling hoodwinked has to be one of the worst feelings. It's almost as bad as guilt.

  2. I know exactly how you feel. Initially I thought that NTCC pastors were simply abusive jerks but then I realized why, once pastors who had left the NTCC gave their testimonies. Not only were they taught to be that way, they told about escrow accounts being zero'd out and escrow accounts containing a couple hundred thousand dollars. And when the pastor asked to use some of the money to get the building fixed, Davis told him that it wasn't his money and to get the money from the people.

Dude, they've been con artists all along. It's never been about souls and certainly not about holiness. That was just a way to get people good and brainwashed.

My wife started talking to me about NTCC because I think she looked at my internet history and found out I'd been to this site.

I never opened up in the last 15 years but last night felt fantastic. I hope to continue to be able to contribute and maybe I'll say something that catches on with someone else who is struggling.

Good Blog Chief! Keep up the good work (because it is work I'm sure running this thing).

  4. Thanks man. I'm seriously glad to hear your good news. It's is work but I actually like it sometimes. I like to type strangely enough. You definitely have to be a good typist to moderate a blog. You've already contributed Bro. I've been doing this stuff for about 8 years now and I know a good comment and your last one is a good one. It should help someone the way I figure.

  5. I don't understand why people would follow Kekel to the bathroom let alone to church. With Davis, he had "reverence" from his followers. I can see why so many of the big wigs have left. Kekel is the spoiled brat who isn't a good enough con man to run the show. I think Kekel himself is going to bring down the house of cards. Doesn't matter what Title he gives himself. Executive Senior Board Administrator and Chief Executive Pastor of Human Resources at Bible School... Makes no difference as he doesn't pass for a leader and far too many know it.

  6. This will be Kekel's first Conference where he is master of all (I think anyways). If anyone can post anything they've learned about how many people attended that would be awesome. 1999 it was close to full (1200). I just curious as to what it is now.

If it's down to half or less than progress is being made!

  7. Conference is over so maybe we'll hear from people with inside knowledge what it looked like. I hope they choke on the empty chairs!

  9. Holy crap... The houses they show on NTCCxer page are insane. That's a bunch of greed right there.

    ReplyDelete
  10. No doubt greed. A blind man could see that. I've talked to a few NTCCers who claim that it's not greed and here is their justification. They say that Davis and Kekel have held official titles such as CEO or President. They say that if a worldly CEO's or company President's are entitled to generous levels of compensation, then why should it be any different in the church? They claim that Davis and Kekel are more then entitled to such extreme levels of monetary compensation. Just as Davis and Kekel, these brainwashed NTCCers and many other religious people have turned the church into no more than a money making business which profits are only enjoyed by a select few at the top.

Here is my challenge to that theory. So essentially what they are suggesting is that a church is simply equal to a common business and should be treated the same. Well if that's the case, then why even call it a church and where in the bible does it suggest that a church should be treated as little more than a money making business? Additionally, tell me about one single business what I'd give my money and literally get NOTHING tangible in return.

Would you walk onto a car lot, give the finance manager your money, and leave empty handed with nothing more than a verbal promise that one day you'll eventually receive your car?

If you are going to treat it like a business, then when I invest my money, I should also partake in the monetary returns from all the profits. These are extensive in the NTCC as is evidenced by the large houses and unlimited rental properties such as houses and church buildings.

Religious people are more often than not suckers and pawns and I've seen that over and over and over again.

    ReplyDelete
  11. How can they claim to be a business, yet be 501 3c? You can't compare a worldly CEO with a church CEO. They don't make the same. What does the average church CEO make?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Average Church CEO??? In the United States??? A LOT!!! I've read articles on it. In two separate articles, which I personally read, being the "leader" / pastor of a church in the United States, ranked as one of the top "10" business nation wide. I'm not kidding or exaggerating. I've read that twice. Being a church owner/pastor is one of the 10 best business you can possibly have.

A lot of factors were considered not the least of which was income. You and I may not consider it a "business", but a lot of business owning professionals in the United States do.

The church has become a business and that's almost as old as the church itself. The Catholics have been doing that for centuries. Virtually every denomination in Christianity has been doing that. The JWs do it, Mormons, and the list goes on and on. Preachers have turned the Gospel into gain.

1 Ti 6.5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.

They'll no longer get rich off me, that's for DAMN sure. No skin off their skin. There are another billion suckers in the world for them to get rich off of. There is a sucker born every day; no truer words have been spoken. Religious folks figured that out a long time ago.

  13. Yeah, but what I don't understand is how you can say you're in the red in world ministries, in the red on the conference campus, and anywhere else and continue to get expensive vehicles/mansions/crazy status...

  14. If they were "worldly CEOs" they'd have been fired for not controlling the organization through thick and thin.

Denis the embezzler broke off with 20% of the company?

Ashmore the healer has left with San Diego and other preachers?

So Kekel can keep his CEO position through all of that? If ever there needed to be a no confidence vote on a "CEO" it's Kekel.

If you read the new by laws Kekel has amassed all power to avoid running the risk of a no confidence vote. He moved from CEO to executive chairman of the world...

    Chief said...

I get what you are saying and I certainly understand the point but for what it's worth Denis was lucky to get off with .0002 percent of the NTCCs worth. All he got off with was a little cash, (relatively speaking) and a little chump furniture from a serviceman's home, a good bunch of ministers and that's about it. The NTCC INC is worth millions and millions and millions. Lot's of millions. In real estate alone I'd bet the NTCC is worth at least a couple hundred million anyway? Conservative guess? Church buildings and rental properties aren't cheap. Raw land??? Land with buildings?? Oh, the NTCC INC is worth a whole lot. Denis didn't even touch the surface.

If you were referring to the ministers who went with him, they were expendable. Davis is the reason they left and I know that for a fact. I was told that by a minister who left. Davis wouldn't listen to anyone or anyone's complaints and the ministers who left knew that, so they knew talking to him would be a waste of time. Talking to Olson and Kekel is just as much a waste of time but Davis was in charge during the split.

The ministers knew that any of their complaints would fall on deaf ears. Additionally any complaints would be interpreted as rebellion so simply leaving was the best approach. Denis took what he could but comparatively speaking, it wasn't a lot.

The NTCC is a cash cow which holds a lot of property. I used to think the split was a big deal but I now understand it was nothing because like I always say; there is a sucker born every day. You lose one and you get ten more to replace the one. It's a revolving door. It's like that in all churches for the most part with the exception of the mom and pop small home town churches. Then the kids become adults and it's a never ending cycle.

  18. I got you chief... Good point.

I guess my original point is what kind of CEO gets to stick around through all of this?

Kekel isn't a CEO/Chairman outside of the fact he's been named on. No leadership skills, no gravitas, no ability to impress with experience. He's worthless yet can't be fired?

  19. Hey everyone... If you're interested, Mike Kekel got to vacation in NYC recently and has photo's to boot. Wonder how much tithe money went for that?

  20. A bunch of tithe money I'm sure. The real question is, I wonder how many butts he slapped or rubbed up against while walking down the street? Did Kinson go with him? They may have stopped in to visit a few whores while they were there. The word is, Kinson likes the whore houses. Nothing wrong with that as long as he stops preaching. Sinners are no big deal. Hypocrites are a whole different story.

Yes, it's true anon! 24 days after that I performed Daniel's funeral, we went to a fellowship meeting in Houston TX. I walked in the hotel lobby wearing a lapel button of Daniel and when R W Davis saw it he said to me, "Reed, when you gonna let that fella die?"
I can't tell you the flood of emotion that rushed through me when he said those words to me. I wanted to cry like a baby and at the same time I wanted to smash his face in. it was at that point that I realized R W Davis was, as you said, "A Cruel, Heartless, Bastard!"

And anybody that thinks "Kekel the Schmekel" is any different, is greatly deceived!

It's good to be FREE from that corrupt organization.

  29. Chief,

I just asked a question over at D/A's blog concerning the randomness of how punishment was administered. I'm wondering if you could pose that question for an upcoming blog.

Why were some allowed to get away with visiting whore houses, homosexual conduct, child/spouse abuse.

What does it take to play this game effectively like Kekel? I still don't understand how a guy with no leadership skill or preaching skill gets to marry Moses daughter.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Anon said..."Why were some allowed to get away with visiting whore houses, homosexual conduct, child/spouse abuse."

Anon, I believe that R W Davis love to promote people that he had some kind of dirt on. Remember, narcissist love having leverage over their subjects.

    ReplyDelete
  31. That is strange that he allowed a putz to marry his daughter. Clearly Davis had to see the writing on the wall in terms of the holiness thing getting nixed with his demise. As hungry for money as he was he seemed to thirst for power over all. Without holiness can you really have that kind of total control?

    ReplyDelete
  32. No kidding,

How does a 20 something punk even dare ask for a teen's hand in marriage and get away with it when the Father is the head of the org? He should have hand picked a guy who could preach/teach/lead but she gets stuck with MK? I don't get it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Davis can pick em... He chose the guy who'd end his holiness standard to be the guy that marries his daughter and runs the church into the ground? If that doesn't knock him down a peg for those who worshipped him I don't know what will.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Because Davis only cared about loyalty and he liked dealing with people who he had dirt on. It left him in contol.

  35. Don and Ange,

Of the 72 comments on your blog, you two have written 43 of them. I wonder if you realize that many people just pass right over you write and read the other comments?

People would read more of what you write if you made it shorter and if you left less comments. Not many people are interested in reading 43 out of 72 comments from the exact same people on one thread. At a minimum you should create separate screen names so when it's from Don we know it's from Don and the other way around. You two just don't seem to understand how much more effective your blog could be if you would take some constructive criticism and change some of the things you do.

All the bright font colors are overkill and your dark background is a detractor. It makes things harder to read. Just sayin. More is not better. Less is better. What do I know.

    ReplyDelete
  36. It left him in control? It sounds like plenty of people had dirt on Davis to include actions he didn't take but should have. I think this is deeper than loyalty. I think maybe the board was mesmerized by Davis to some degree. Brainwashed if you will.

Kekel sure didn't seem taken with him as he broke all the rules all the time.

  37. R W Davis was a narcissistic, plagiarizer. And the nut doesn't fall far from the tree.
Tanya Kekel is a plagiarizer also! Everybody used to rave about her Hebrews class and how awesome the notes were. Well, I was teaching a Bible study one time, from the book of Hebrews, using my class notes from Tanya's class. As I was teaching I noticed a lady looking in her bible shaking her head and rolling her eyes. I politely asked her if everything was alright. She looked up at me, and said "I can't believe this, but everything you're saying is word for word written in my bible side notes!" She showed my her bible and I compared my notes with it and I was taken a back.
Tanya Kekel's "most awesome" class on the book of Hebrews was plagiarized word for word from the LIFE APPLICATION BIBLE. She just forgot to leave that part out when teaching that class.
What a bunch of frauds. They charged people for those classes and never gave their sources. There's a good "Bible College" for ya! NOT!!

For what it's worth, if the moderator of the blog doesn't write comments, the blog dies. At this point in the NTCC blogisphere, the only reason there are any active blogs remaining is because of the work that Don and Ange have put into theirs. Yeah they could tone down the colors but that doesn't supersede their efforts and pure volume of work invested. I would have let this blog die a good while back if it weren't for D&A. Eventually I will anyway. I've been kind of tired of it for a while but Ashmore's departure revitalized my interest. It's rapidly dying again. Nothing new. All old news. The NTCC's going nowhere. Davis dies, Kekel remains. Kekel dies, some other religious fake crook will take over.

  43. I personally appreciate both D&A's and Chief's blog. I see two different approaches for one goal. I see D&A as taking an approach that is more victim protective. I see Chief's as more of an in your face approach. I feel both approaches are needed to reach the largest group.

On D&A's blog, my phone brings up a black background and dark blue or any dark color is near impossible to read. It is harder for me to navigate at times but for me it is worth a bit more work. It has many great links. Yes, they comment often but in those comments I do find great info.

Chief's is easier to navigate and is also a great blog. I'm a woman and don't feel as comfortable sharing some of the abuses that occurred on this blog because at times it feels as if I would have to defend myself from some of the commenters. That is not to take away from Chief's blog in any way.

I understand your frustration and burn out Chief. I read these blogs for years before I ever commented. It wasn't until I healed that I felt safe enought to share on either blog. I healed by reading other's comments.

I pray that both of the blogs continue or someone steps up to take either one of your places. You will never fully know the positive impact that these blogs have in NTCCERS and EXERS lives. Thanks Chief, thanks D&A.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Not a problem. None at all. I understand your point. I'm glad this blog has helped people because that was certainly the intent. FACTNet helped me A LOT and that is an understatement. It opened my eyes is what it did. Tracy's blog did the same. When her blog started to die and fade away, I started this one. About two weeks later, her's was gone without a trace.

Originally I started this site with a completely different approach. I was way more reserved and balanced. As time when on, it became somewhat frustrating when I realized the extent that many people had been brainwashed. I realized that with many, pure logic and common sense was completely absent. With others fear prevailed and with other they were too proud to admit they'd been suckers and had been duped.

Additionally too many of the comments from certain responders were simply inaccurate and or a complete stretch of the truth. It wasn't too hard to figure out when people totally stretching the truth while reporting what they wanted to convey rather than the bare unadulterated facts. So yes, someone else needs to pick up the torch because I've lost patience for it.

Additionally not all victims tell the whole truth or rather the whole story and I know that for an absolute fact. Not all supporters of the victims give absolute facts but too often a fabrication of the facts. The problem is when someone doesn't give the whole story, there is always someone else who's either still in the NTCC or has been in the NTCC who knows both sides of the story. I've talked to an exNTCC minister even recently who knows that what some of these women have reported is only part of the story. Sure they are victims but they've got plenty of bones in their own closets which too many people know about which kills at least a portion of their credibility.

Some of the reporting on some of these subjects can be outright reckless. The other problem is that the NTCC leadership is so completely crooked, that some of the info which would appear to be a fabrication, actually is not. Trust me when I say this. There is no limit to the lawlessness and crookedness that the NTCC leadership has proven to be capable of. I'd put nothing past them at all. The Kekels and Olson are the absolute bottom of the bucket where immorality and lack of leadership is concerned. They have caused more damage to the lives of thousands of people than probably any other three people in the entire United States I strongly suspect. They use and abuse basically everyone they come in contact with in one form or another.

  46. I will say that in reference to credibility of the victims that we have not heard anything credible to discount the victim's testimonies. We have heard lots of opinions, that there is no way so many things could have possibly happened to Julie, but we have never had anyone come forth with any credible testimony that any part of her testimony was not true. There have been oodles of people that have tried to discredit her, but just about every one who has done so has not presented any facts or witnesses that have contradicted the specific allegations.

Is it possible that some of the facts are not 100% accurate? It's possible, but nobody has come up with anything specific that proves otherwise. Even with Pam, nobody seems to deny that Davis felt her up. Most of the disputations are about the morality of a 60 year old man taking advantage of a 16 year old girl who grew up in the organization and was married off to a convicted serial child molester and was given hush money by the founder of the organization. We all might have a difference of opinion on Pam's role as a victim, but do we all agree that Davis as the founder of an organization that claims to be the last move of God on earth, was a pervert for feeling up a 16 year old girl? So we are left with a Moral dilemma to decide, is Pam lying or is it okay for the founder of an organization to take his liberty with a young girl just because she accepted money. Did Pam tell any lies in her original statement? Nobody seems to suggest that.

Now, I have not recieved any compelling testimony that any of the victims were lying. Lisa shared that Davis tried to molest Pam and her older sister Brenda also, this was shared on our blog by Lisa. Children who were raised in the ntcc seemed to be the biggest targets and the parents of those who were targeted were awful parents who didn't seem to want to protect them.

I'm willing to examine anyone's testimony if it includes more than just supposition that these victims are lying. Nobody has come forward from the ntcc who has been accused by these victims and denied that what they have shared has happened. I am open to hear anyone that has specifics of why they feel these girls have lied. So far all we have is folks that are attempting to discredit them and they use opinions rather than facts to do so.

All of us have accused Davis and Kekel of being double standard hypocrites and we use their own past words and actions to support our accusations. For instance, we use the testimony of others to allege that Davis was an adulterer from his beginnings as founder of the ntcc. We believe the testimony of him being held at gunpoint by a disgruntled husband who accused Davis of committing adultery with his wife. This was published by several different sources and the story was told in different ways, but nobody has refuted the testimony of this incident or accused anyone of lying about this. We have called out Kekel on both blogs for throwing Davis under the bus, on holiness standards that applied to many in the ntcc but not to Grant. Kekel used his own opinions to justify his actions but had nothing substantial to discredit any of the bloggers or contributors who clearly proved there was a double standard.

All of the testimony on blogs comes from contributors or from communication from a person to the blog moderator. I want the truth to come out as much as anyone, but so far the folks that have refuted the victims testimony on our blog is only opinion driven while most of the alleged abuse is supported by other testimony and the history of Davis's behavior and sexual tendency to abuse young women and underage girls.

  48. I have heard disagreements and opinions that the victims on our blog are lying. All I want is for those who believe they are lying to come forward with something more credible than an opinion. Is that fair? What part of their testimony is a lie and what evidence do you have that they are lying. I don't want to publish a bunch of lies on our blog. I really don't. But so far, All I've heard is conjecture and opinions. I'm open to someone coming forward with testimony from anyone as to what they might think is irrefutable evidence that specific things they have said are lies.

  49. Here is one thing that must be incorrect. On Chiefs blog, Chief posted what he said was the original statement that Pam made. On Dons blog, that statement is different. There are differences between the two. Some things are added and some things are taken out. Especially where Pam said that she did things willfully. Thats not on Dons blog. So which statement is the original and which one has additions that were not in the original statement. Someones statement cant be what Pam wrote originally. That or they are both wrong. Which one is it.

  50. D/A,

I don't know if anyone is lying or telling embellished stories but to me there is too much evidence that something was going on. If nothing else the FACT that 14 year olds are getting courted and married off is more than just a "red flag" it's an out right assault on an average persons mentality of a healthy relationship.

Too many women have come forward or talked of the butt bumping/rubbing by Kekel for there not to be something there. He's the damn Bill Cosby of preachers. We mock Islam because of all the witnesses required for a woman to claim rape but what are we when Kekel is allowed to get away with this crap?

If the saying, where there is smoke there is fire is even partially true then we have a 5 alarm fire!!!

  51. What was posted on this blog was exactly, word for word what Pam wrote in her original email. I'm stating that as a fact. If Don and Ange talked directly to Pam, and Pam supported and or advocated a different variation of her original letter, then that is between Pam and D&A. Like I said, what I posted is exactly word for word what Pam wrote, no more, no less.

I could care less what anyone wants to call the encounter between Pam and Davis. Davis was a self proclaimed holiness preacher who regularly preached against every form of sin you could possibly dream of to include fornication, adultery and any other form of sex with anyone other than there own spouse. So no matter what anyone wants to call his encounter between he and Pam which Pam said she allowed, it doesn't matter to me. Sex, rape, any combination of the two or whatever. If what Pam wrote in the letter that I posted was true, then Davis was a stone cold double standard hypocrite.

So therefor, with that knowledge, Davis then was a fake and a con artist, whether he quote raped her or he didn't and that is what NTCC people should realize. These are the type of people they are dealing with in the NTCC leadership.

If they chose to continue to follow people like that, having that knowledge, then they are seriously misguided; rape, sex or whatever.

  52. If Don and Ange want to have an "abused victims" blog that is totally up to them. This blog isn't about the victims, it's about the NTCC and it's sorry double standard, conniving, crooked, money hungry hypocritical leadership. Hell, I'm a victim and I could care less. I got took to the cleaners along with everyone else who ever gave a single dime to the NTCC.

I'm not trying to tag Davis, Kekel or anyone else as rapists, perverts, molesters or any of the sort specifically. They may be exactly that and I know some of them have been and or still are but that doesn't matter to me. What they are exactly is hypocrites who are after your money and their so called church is nothing but a big scam and a fake. We were all victims of one sort or another. What's new. Having your family broke in half and having your parents and siblings alienated from you is no better and makes you no less of a victim than someone supposedly raped or anything else.

Being connived into cheating your children out of their childhoods while all along Grant Kekel was allowed to do all the things your children couldn't is just as bad as all the sexual crime stories that others have focused so much attention on. Having said all that the NTCC isn't going anywhere so let the suckers drive on filling the pockets of the rich and greedy.

    Later, I'm out.

  53. This blog will be at a minimum temporarily out of commission. The NTCC causes nothing other than confusion, that at least for now, I need no part of. D&As blog is no doubt open for business. Later and have a good one. Just know this, the NTCC is led by no one other than con artists.
