NTCC Jargon

In a previous thread CM wrote...

Jeff, A a new topic to discuss; NTCC jargon sayings that are so BOGUS! Example: "You will never be the same once you leave NTCC. Once you've heard the word of God preached while in NTCC; you will never be the same."

Jeff said....

That is a great idea. I have one, and it was one of Olson's favorites.
"We're winning".

I always thought that saying was bogus even when I was "
IN" the NTCC. How in the world were we "winning" when half the NTCC pastors were running folks off no sooner than they came through the church doors? How in the world were we winning when the local church pastor was constantly begging for more money to purchase a church sign or to have more insulation installed in the attic, or to have enough toilet paper in the latrine, or because the church rent was already past-due? How were we winning when a visiting pastor, (Bro Solomon) stood up and testified that he had no clue where the money would come from that was needed in order to take care of his families basic necessities and keep the lights on? Then to add insult to injury, L.D. Jones stood up and critiqued Solomon's testimony by suggesting that Solomon didn't have enough faith and that Solomon had placed restrictions on Gods full potential to provide for our needs.

If that's what the NTCC calls "winning", I wonder what they consider loosing? I know, leaving their sorry organization because as long as you are renting one of RWD's houses (that you will never own or consider yours), living from paycheck to paycheck, driving an old broke down automobile, eating vienna sausages, and wondering where the money is come from to keep the lights on,
"YOU'RE WINNING"!

  1. The one that I am thinking of is.........."Pastor is a blessing!" What makes Roger Davis such a blessing? For those of you still in NTCC ask yourself this! The problem with RWD is this....He is a very insecure man! I will say that again.....Roger Davis is a very insecure man! The man will not be out done! For you to out do RWD would make you equal with him, and he will not allow that. That is why he constantly emphasizes the fact that he has MORE MONEY then anyone else. It is to put himself above everyone else. If you were to share with him any type of accomplishment that you have achieved he will scoff, and get one up on you. If you saved 50,000 dollars, he will laugh and say he has saved 100,000 dollars. Ever notice that when a local pastor begins to prosper RWD will shut that church down, and take his members. Example given......

When Dave Tieman was the pastor in Parkland, he ran a very successful, enthusiastic, and vivrant church. The church members were happy, and excited about God. On the contrary Mike Kekel was pastoring Graham (the poster child for the rest of the org.) and the church in Graham was dead, disgruntled, and over worked, with little results. Tiemans church would visit on Thursday nights, and that bunch would come un- glued at the drop of a hat. Service would start, and they would bring an enthusiasm to the church that Kekel just could not make happen.

Roger Davis became jealous of that, because Tiemans program was more excited then the one Davis had put together despite all of the flash, and prettiness of Graham, Tiemans church members were more excited then Kekel's, and it was making Kekel, and Davis LOOK BAD! So what did Davis do?????

Davis shut down the Parkland church, had Tieman sell his house, and nice car, and made all of the church members from Parkland come out to Graham. He made Tieman the overseer, and after about three months shipped Tieman out of town away from his church members.

The end result.... Kekel having no previous pastoral experience let the Parkland congregation die out... What was wrong with keeping Parkland open? The congregation was large enough, the bills were paid, and the people were happy. BUT DAVIS GOT JEALOUS!!!!!! Davis would not have Tieman out doing him, or the people that he had representing him (kekel).

Roger Davis constantly wants you to be looking at him for all of your needs. He does not want you to prosper as he claims, because if you do, you will have no need to depend on him! The only thing that seperates him from everyone else, is his money, and possessions! Take that away, and he is just like you! JUST LIKE YOU! And that would drive that man insane!

"Pastor is a blessing!" Once again I ask you... When has he blessed you? He barely even speaks to you....

  3. It is sad to read about what happened in Parkland! It is sad to hear about what happened to Deb and Greg Schunk. Consider: (Luke 16) A large gate to a rich man's lair. No Access. (RW) Then see Paul Acts 28 - a rented house receiving all who came by. Paul- converts meeting in homes, a few members in each church. Successful? not by NTCC standards! Paul- reign of love and power. RW- reign of terror. Passages which NTCC Graham will never preach: James 5:1-5; Rev 3:17; Pvb 23:4.

Question: after RW dies- will they still be so bad? Yes, because the seedlings come from the tree...

  4. I remember early on RW used to announce with great melodrama "Brethren, I believe this organization is God's last call to mankind." He had us lapping that swill out of his hand and begging for more. If there's any shred of truth to NTCC's megalomaniac-in-chief's statement, then mankind is screwed.

    Totally and royally screwed.

  5. I liked how Rev. Tieman preached. I've known the family for years, and I'm still in contact with their son and his wife - he was like my brother growing up. It seems like every time he gets a serious growth in the church, then he gets transferred. That happened in Portland too. They had a record amount of people one Easter Sunday - I think it was around 100. The people there were faithful, wonderful people with a desire to serve God. The Tieman's were moved, with the typical "tell noone until the day before." Now, there's like 10 people at that church. Only one of them were there during the Tieman's time.

  6. Offerring jargon.

All Christians give in tithe and offerring.
Wether your a Happy giver or a grumpy giver. Don't matter, still take your money!

Yes,ntcc does not care who they take money from. As long as money is going into there money Tills. Those are not offerring plate's. Those are there money tills. Keep there lifestyle's paid for. No matter how any of the other ministers and there families live. What there quality of life is,compared to Mike K. And Tanya's richy rich life.

Please do not say I am envious. I think there style in cloths, furniture, and vechiles are disgusting. IS A WASTE of Gods money! GK education is a WASTE of Gods money! Mike K. guitars are a Waste of Gods money! The basketball hoop, and volleyball nets in Mike K. backyard. Are a waste of Gods money! There taste and lifestyle stinks in Gods nostrils. I am not envious. I am sad at how they live and how God will judge them one day!
Yes those wheels of judgement do turn slowly rw davis. But guess what there still a turning!!

  7. RE: "Last Move On Earth" Honestly, Vic, while I was there I knew that they were missing much of the Word. He always said- if you want so-and-so's teaching- go to their Bible School. I should have packed up that day and left. I thought: "these people are my friends". Big mistake. They are only "spies" and never friends. I pity the whole bunch now. Maybe not; I read Deb's blog about McK's learned "scowling" facial intimidating "looks". They don't even know they're using psycho-tricks abandoned by the rest of life's beings. Well, drink the kool-aid and shut up, I guess!

Vic, I am LOL! You know, I said something very similar to Russ Mears before I left the campground:

"Pastor says there are other Christians out there. Well, I'd like to meet some of them."

Russ gave an emphatic and thoughtful nod. I think it really hit home with him. The dude is smart.

But smart people can be taken advantage of too. It goes to the whole love and loyalty thing.

Russ and Jan are very loyal, even though their loyalty is not reciprocated or appreciated by ntcc.

I know that her sister is still "in" and that they are in the phillipines, as far as the records in the org. directory.
As for the tiemans, they are not listed as the pastors in st louis anymore, they have devonshire as the pastor.
What is going on in st. louis, that they can't keep somebody more than 3 years.

  12. I APPRECIATE YOU--gush,,gush.

Perhaps of all the lies ntcc tells in its jargon, this is the biggest and most twisted saying:

    I APPRECIATE YOU

To appreciate something is to both understand it and highly value it.

ntcc does neither in truth. But they do both in thier selfish twisted way.

    Let me explain:

ntcc understands you in the general sense of knowing how to apply manipulative tactics to get you to do what they want you to do.

ntcc does not understand you in that they don't know your name, what town you've been working in to make them richer, who your children are, what your dreams are, what your goals are etc.

Everything they understand about you is filtered through their own selfish manipulative goals to make themselves richer. Period.

The same goes for highly valuing you.

If you are producing number$ for them, you will be put on a pedestal for all to see. They only do this in hopes of inspiring others to compy your technique to make them wealthier and more powerful.

They don't mind giving you fifteen minutes of fame because they know it will cause you to strive harder for them, cause others to be like you etc.

And when you do stop producing, the fall is harder and more devestating, making it easier for them to replace you with a fresh sucker.

    So,

    I APPRECIATE YOU

    in ntcc means,

THANKS FOR BEING A GOOD SUCKER, NOW RUN ALONG AND PLAY NICE BY MY RULES OR I WILL FIND A FRESH SUCKER TO TAKE YOUR PLACE.

    REMEMBER, I WAS HERE FIRST.

    Uh-oh, time for another post;-)

  16. Here are a couple of zingers:

"Don't ask my advice unless you are going to take it."

"Do what you want to do, because that's what you're going to do anyway."

This guy is such an egotist, he doesn't want you to solicit his advice for consideration; no, he only wants you to ask if you agree to follow it before you even know what it is! Isn't that breathtaking in its audacity?

The other phrase is code for when he thinks you might not want to take his advice. He even translated it for us. He said that if he ever told us that, it meant that he had no confidence in us following his superior wisdom, and that he knew we were just going to be knotheads and go our own way. It was sort of a passive-aggressive tactic to condition us to ignore our own better judgment and obey his whims. One time he told me that when I queried him about visiting my parents before I came up here to Alaska to pioneer. I had been married one month, and my folks had never met my wife. It seemed to be a pretty normal desire, but he came all unglued about it and issued the "do what you want to do" edict. So like an obedient clone, I bagged that plan and came straight up here. He's an expert manipulator.

And what about sending a guy to a strange town thousands of miles away with no help of any kind whatsoever, one month after he becomes a husband and father? Even the Israelites were exempt from battle for a year after marriage. It's a miracle that we're still together, and certainly in spite of all the crap they put us through.

  21. Why does soo many in ntcc Amen Everything? You go on Mk blog. You can click on Amening what he says. That you agree with it. Or you can't disagree with him. So you just say Amen.

And another irritating one is. You are chatting with a man or woman in ntcc. To end the conversation. Folks say,God Bless. What in the world does that mean?
I remember MK once saying, you should instead say. May God Bless you. God does not just bless you Automatically!!

Maybe someone can enlightening me on these two favorite sayings of ntcc. Because that is all they have become. a saying that has been watered down(ALOT)!
Similar to hyle hitler, with the arm raising. Folks in ntcc feel part of the club. Saying God Bless,Amening in a service over everything that is said!

Oh and one other jargon saying I was remembering. Sacrifice is next to godliness. If I got that right. the peons in ntcc are to sacrifice EVERYTHING. While those in the uppity up postions. What do they sacrifice or have sacrificed? NILCH!

  22. Another couple come to mind:

"Poor people are poor because they want to be poor."

What kind of asinine statement is that? Being poor because one makes bad choices isn't the same as wanting to be poor. No one wants to be poor. People may settle for poverty once life has them beaten down (like a lot of folks who've been in the org too long), but no one consciously chooses it.

"You have as much money as you want to have."

If that were true, no one would ever get any more than he has, because he would already have as much as he wanted.

RW is adept at using catchy sounding phrases that have a quirky surface appeal, but don't withstand vigorous scrutiny. He just spouts all these cliches that he's picked up here and there; not many (if any) are original.

After I finished BS, the direction seemed to shift from Leonard Ravenhill and John Bunyan and Fox's Book of Martyrs to Napoleon Hill and Zig Ziegler and Og Mandino and The Go Getter and other positive thinking pabulum. I though RW was some big guru, filling our heads with that stuff in AST (Advanced School of Theology), but once I read the books myself I discovered he was just a mediocre parrot. He is a genius at appropriating whatever he can to further his agenda, though. Like a walking black hole, he absorbs everything around him. We know how difficult it was to escape his orbit, and many haven't yet succeeded.

  29. RULE #1, THE BOSS IS ALWAYS RIGHT.

RULE #2, IF THE BOSS IS WRONG, SEE RULE #1

This mantra of ntcc, displayed for years in the B.S. office for all students to see, tells so much about them. It is as useless and circular as their so-called website that boots you back to their main page any time you click on a particular city's so called web page. What are they trying to hide?

But back to the BOSS-r.w. davis:

For years r.w. davis was THE MAN. Dual reference there, all you ntcc B.S.ers(Bible Scholars).

In fact r.w. davis was so convicted about his bullying and bossing he actually smashed a coffee mug that for years had been in his ski-Lodge palace at the ntcc campground. Why? Because the mug had the word "BOSS" on it.

This "BOSS" mug was one of those "freebies" you don't want; but that you get when you pay $80 for something you don't need, like some Hugo Boss perfume for men.

BTW that's a take off from a joke told by comedian Rita Rudner (not the SNL girl)--wouldn't want to plagiarize like r.w. and so many in ntcc do... !!!

Of course r.w. put his usual spin on this story claiming he smashed the mug coz he didn't want to be the boss. Right. Sure. (Dripping with sarcasm now.)

I guess he really does have a degree: PhD--Piled Higher and Deeper.

  31. LEAVE HIM ALONE-GAWD TOLD ME TO LEAVE HIM ALONE--rdub speaking.

Many times in my years in ntcc, rdub would get up behind the pulpit and be talking bad about some person who had left the borg.

Then he would add that declaration, that Gawd had told rdub to 'LEAVE HIM ALONE'... rdub would then put on his best gassy-puss expression and give the look that this meant so-n-so was such a devil that Gawd Hisself had to tell rdub to LEAVE HIM ALONE!

Tonight I was reading in the gospel (you should try that sometime, rdub), and one red-letter sentence jumped out at me:

    "LEAVE HER ALONE!"

Christ was rebuking Judas Iscariot and whoever else was thinking and talking bad about Mary Magdalene who had come to prepare Christ for His burial.--(John ch.12)

I believe rdub in classic rdub style has mis-interpreted what God was saying.

I beleive God has been rebuking rdub for many long years to

    "LEAVE HER ALONE!"

I believe God wants rdub to

    "LET MY PEOPLE GO!"

rahj, you can harden your heart as did Pharaoh. You can increase the B.S. students' workload and continue to make God's people serve with rigour. satan has a measure of power given to him by God.

But Pharaoh learned the hardest way of all Who is God.

Every knee will bow. Every tongue will confess that Jesus is Lord to the glory of God the Father.

What will you say? Will you lie and say you didn't know they were God's children that you were taking advantage of and making to serve with rigour?

You do remember the warning dream God gave YOU about 'a preacher'--you?-- in hell screaming and begging God to "Let me out! I won't take advantage of the little brothers any more!"--too little, too late!

Will you right now harden your heart again?

    Ten plagues.

    The tenth the worst.

    Then the Red Sea.

    What'll it be?

    Jesus Sees.

Just to be clear, that was JESUS SPEAKING, not r.w. davis or any of his yes-men who claim to be the "last move of God" AS IF!

"BUT OF THAT DAY AND HOUR KNOWETH NO 'MAN', NO, NOT THE ANGELS OF HEAVEN, BUT MY FATHER ONLY." (Matt.__24v36)--Again, Jesus speaking.

If God says no man knows, then no man knows. Not rdub or anyone.

    Only the Father.

r.w. davis, the founder of ntcc, used
to love to "plow" people with that
    statement:

"YOU HAVE TIME FOR WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO YOU!!!"

He would YELL that into the microphone while at the pulpit or sitting on his throne teaching a B.S. class (Bible Seminary).

Well, folks, I gotta tell ya, I just
clicked on two links that Miss Deborah has thoughtfully included on her blog's home page, and the results are

    "VERY TELLING"...

But ntcc has no time to update the ntcc 'official' website since 2007?

Guess you don't want people to know how many ntcc missionaries and pastors are completely abandoned by ntcc to the point where God has to send TRUE CHRISTIANS FROM REAL CHURCHES OR THEIR OWN FAMILY MEMBERS TO HELP OUT THE MISSIONARIES and PASTORS whom ntcc HAS ABANONED IN THE FIELD.

And if ntcc is not even faithful in
these small things, why should anyone
trust them with the true riches of
    their own souls???

ntcc 'leadership' has proven that the
people like Miss Deborah's sister, and the Hayes, and the Medinas, and Rich and Diana Hampton, and the FILL IN YOUR NAMES HERE are not important to ntcc!!!

ntcc sends these people out to do
ntcc's dirtiest work for ntcc; then
ntcc leaves them hanging in the breeze high and dry with

    NO SUPPORT!!

    But

BTW, your phony phrase: "I'm praying
for you." no longer holds water.

I doubt the ntcc 'leaders' have done
any REAL PRAYING in a LONG LONG TIME!

Because if they did, they would have to"get out of the sinning business!"

But I guess the ntcc 'leaders' have no time for TRUE PRAYER. Nor do they take time to update the ntcc 'official' website since 2007.

Well, that's not true. Their money
making venues have fresh, updated blog pages that sparkle, shine, change photos, and all but sing and dance.

Yeah, go to ntcc's OFFICIOUS website
and see how much they want to soak you for a subscription to their 'news' magazine The Trumpet.

That part of the website is very
    current....

AND they have plenty of time to be
'cool online' and anonymously snipe at posters on the non-ntcc websites...

    It's called DAMAGE CONTROL.

I guess you really do "HAVE TIME FOR

Anyway, why live with some old fasion custom. This is 2010 Mike! Not living in Laura Inglass time! Thankgoodness!

Mike tried to bash me,because I copied a artile and sent it to him. I believe it had a curse word in it. So he tried to bash me for it. I WAS not the one cursing. It was in the article Mike!
I sent him a article, where that Gangster symbol has orginated from. It does have GANG orgins and even prositution!
Little kids in ntcc using it all over the place. Trying to Look COOL,hype,in style!

Accused me of being angry,bitter,ect... same ole, same ole jargon they love to spew to there convience.

Guess what Mike my life is richer, fuller and still seriving God and much much happier. And I do not have to hide my going on's from church members! I don't have to sneak around in a FANCY vechile. One I take my son to a school that no NON-PROFIT minister should be taking his son. While he allows pioneer churches to slave it out on there own! Take 10,000 of that tution. Image how many pioneer works could be BLESSED by that money. Since those works are not there's but own by the ntcc Orgization!!!

Mike, you only make changes a little at a time. So folks can swallow it and damage control can happen. Keep folks happy,so they will not leave. Guess what. I can ride a motocycle if I want, attend any bluegrass festival, ect. And as many as I want. Without trying to be sneaky and hide it from others!!!!

Mike is the one that really needs to go and soak his head. Lived under rw davis dillusion for so long. He thinks there so high and mighty. Just a bunch of Prudish people! So glad to have ESCAPED ntcc. Can make All the CHANGES you want. Still a evil empire. Started with evil, still evil!!

  55. Here's some jargon:

    "You make the rules."

If someone did something RW didn't like, he made a rule that applied to everyone. How that constitutes any form of leadership is mystifying, but there you have it. If those conscientious souls who had done nothing to inspire this new rule objected, we just got the cliche: "You make the rules."

It wasn't even true. Who made the rule to make a rule for anything with which RW didn't want to be bothered? None of us did.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Vic said...

That RWD said: "You make the rules.:

    Jeff said...

I even heard that one and I was never in Graham. What a bunch of garbage. If I'd been in my right mind there wouldn't have been any rules. Certainly none that I would have answered to. I had to deal with much of the same rules in Atlanta as existed in Graham.

The pastor wanted to decide who would babysit our child. He insisted that we hand write our soulwinning reports and not print them from a computer. Shoes for my wife, "no sandals". No boots for my wife. We went to conference and half the women were wearing sandals or tennis shoes. The rules were all bunch of garbage and I have a hard time getting over the fact that I put up with them for even one minute.

I feel like I was robbed and cheated. The bottom line is I was a sucker and I can't blame that on anyone but me. That doesn't however change the way I feel about those conniving, crook NTCC leaders. I can't stand them. I know RWD is the one who initiated all that garbage but if a murderer teaches you how to murder, you become a murderer just like they are. I understand that a lot of psychological manipulation and cult tactics were used but that doesn't make me feel any better about the whole situation.

    ReplyDelete
  61. "How can you call yourself a man if you do not defend your bride."

You really can't, but have mercy. None of us were real men as long as Davis and his cronies kept us emasculated. We're all ashamed enough of that now, and regret many of our NTCC mind-controlled actions and their consequences.

I don't think I ever had to defend Edna from any attacks by RW, but I do recall an interesting incident which occurred shortly after we were married. I was walking with her on the school grounds, and we were holding hands. RW saw us, scowled, and bellowed "what are you doing!" Now, I think this was a headgame; he frequently does things like that to gauge peoples' reactions. It's one of his methods of discovering vulnerabilities, which he can then exploit. Anyway, I didn't think he was really angry; I supposed he was joking around with us, but Edna was startled and intimidated, and reflexively tried to pull her hand away. But I held fast onto it, grinned at him, and declared that I was holding my wife's hand. He just kind of nodded his head and passed on by.

It's funny; he does these things to find out whom he can manipulate, but appears to have more respect (well, less disrespect; he's not been been known to show respect) for people who show a little resistance and don't just knuckle under to him. He likes a challenge; he likes something to work with. He knows if he can subvert a strongwilled one, he will have an even more effective tool. He really despises those who have no spine and are putty in his hands. These, who are the most devoted and faithful, who have never given him the least bit of trouble and love him unreservedly, are treated like dirt. Those are the ones at whom he publicly screams rebukes, whether from behind the pulpit, stalking the aisles, or just toe to toe after service during "fellowship." He knows they'll just suck it up, accept his guilt and blame themselves (and, most importantly, keep those tithes and offerings coming)!

He used to even tell us that he'd rather try to make a leader out of someBODY who was egotistical and impulsive than one who was timid and conscientious. "You can't do anything with a peanut brain who has no self esteem" is the way I remember him putting it.

Brash and in-your-face preachers who had no tact (or love) were continually promoted; they were the ones who could be molded into pushers and taskmasters who would use abusive tactics on their congregations to get the results he demands. An avowed student of Machiavelli, RW lives in a world where ends trump means. Results are all that matter--money and numbers are the only required items on the weekly report, revealing the leadership's true priorities.

Anyway, for some reason rwd started his class dashing at mr. gesang. I guess he had it with him for some odd reason and began scolding him for not spending time with his wife. I don't know if sandy had gone to rwd for advice on how to get her husband to spend time with her, because rwd was very plain with gesang and of course we were just like: "okay..." but rwd told gesang to stop messing around in his garden and trying to pay too much attention to his roses and then in a loud voice and looking towards gesang, he said: "when sandy is gone, you are not going to have sex with those roses are you?" silence all around. So if Sandy said something to rw davis about Gesang spending to much time with his rose's. That would be shocking. Why didn't she just go to God and pray about it?

  73. Who knows why rwd does what he does and why he would try to put people down. In conferences he would always say something negative about somebody and then you see that person and feel for them because they would look all dejected.
I remember when he told us the story about rev. taylor and said that he spanked his son so much that when the boy grew up he didn't want to have anything to do with him. Why bring it up at all?
This was a personal matter between father and son, but no, in the conference everybody was shocked to hear this. I never knew of this family other than in the conferences or saying hi to them sometimes. Anyways, just my two cents.

  74. "I remember when he told us the story about rev. taylor and said that he spanked his son so much that when the boy grew up he didn't want to have anything to do with him."

Yeah, I spanked my kids too much too, because RW put the fear in all ministers that they would be disqualified from their calling by "unruly children." All we heard was how we were to make them obey, by whatever means necessary, and corporal punishment was emphasized. Until Grant came along that is; then we learned to our utter amazement that he claims to have only spanked Tanya six or seven times! I guess that harmonizes with the "it's different when it's your own family" doctrine. Fortunately out relationships have healed now, but had we not left NTCC when we did, I doubt that would be true.

  78. CM,

Once again, sorry to hear that you were hurt that way!

I think abuse is more common than many people want to admit. And yet nobody seems to know how to help or prevent it. And as you and Waiting to Exhale and others have shown, often the people who should be helping are making it worse with thoughtless or cruel statements! I've been guilty of hurting someone who was abused by her father when I said something. Not on purpose, but still hurtful.
What most people who have not suffered abuse don't know is that most of the victims still love their abusers and would readily forgive them if they ever repented and truly changed. But I think that only God can make that happen and only if the abuser seeks His assistance.
In the mean time those who have suffered are left to help themselves, often finding relief only in God's arms. I wish people were better at helping one another, but until it happens I pray God's grace keeps you!
