Thread #12 I want to explain to everyone why I left ntcc and why I am speaking out against them now. I was in ntcc from 1982 – 2006. Most of those years were as an ordained minister in good standing. When I first left ntcc in 2006, I just wanted to go away quietly, and not say anything negative. But after exhaustively reading all the complaints against ntcc, studying the issues, and talking to people firsthand—I am absolutely convinced that ntcc is a seriously messed up church organization; that it uses cult tactics to manipulate and control it’s preachers and their families; and that their main purpose is to make Davis and the Kekels incredibly rich.
I left ntcc, because I was completely disillusioned with the whole organization, especially the leaders. It became very evident to me that 24 years of loyal service didn’t amount to a hill of beans, and that I would always be broke and in poverty if I remained in ntcc any longer.
Me, my wife and my two kids had just come back from 3 years of intense hardship in Puerto Rico. Although, the church eventually gave us some support there, it was lukewarm support, and Rev. Olson made it very clear that the church could not “afford” to help us more. I won’t go into the details here, but I will say that I sold my house and cars to go to PR, and spent $8000 of my OWN money. In the 3 years we lived there, we had NO furniture—and were broke most of the time. I even got very sick down there (so sick I couldn’t work), but the leadership of ntcc acted like they didn’t care. All they cared about was—church reports and offerings. We were the Fourth couple to go to Puerto Rico (Medina, Casanova & Ramirez went before us), and that ALL the previous couples had also gone through intense financial problems down there, with lukewarm support, if any. It also became very apparent that Rev. Olson (who I have always looked up to), could not make ONE decision, no matter how minor, without getting permission from Davis. I thought he was CEO?
When I got back from PR I was physically, emotionally and spiritually drained. The church gave us a cold welcome. Some of you know what I am talking about. Now, friends of mine were happy to see me, but the leadership’s reception was a lot cooler. I had no possessions, no car, no nothing. But, what shocked me the most was how incredibly wealthy the Kekels and Davis were. Here we were basically starving (as are the missionaries in Panama and elsewhere), but the leaders are living in plush luxury. Olson said the church didn’t have the money to help us properly, but it is because the majority of the money is siphoned off to support the lifestyles of Davis and his family. Is this really what God had in mind? Is this really supported by the Bible? No way! As far as I’m concerned, ntcc is nothing but a big sham, and Davis is just a spiritual conman, who has duped a lot of people into giving all their money and time to make him and his daughter rich. Don’t tell me it’s God blessing, because it’s not. Anyone can guilt trip thousands of people into giving them 10% of their money and then live like kings. God has nothing to do with it.
Let me tell you the thing that pushed me to leave ntcc. Tanya and her mother were constantly coming up to me before and after church to tell me how much they were praying for me. At first I appreciated it, but after a couple of weeks it started getting annoying. I thought, “Why don’t your husbands come up to me?” Why the wives? But, it was basically, “Be ye warmed and filled…” while they went back to their mansions. Well, Tanya felt sorry for me so she gave me a bag full of old towels and sheets. They were wore out and had a hole in them, but I had nothing, so I gratefully took them. The next day I get in my $800 car and am driving down the street, when Tanya drives by in a brand new BMW 745!! That’s like a $100,000 car! It was then that I knew I had absolutely no value to ntcc. After 24 years of faithful service, I was worth a bag of old towels. You or me would have flipped someone $20 and said, go buy yourself some towels and sheets, but not the leadership of ntcc. They weren’t going to part with a penny of their wealth to help anyone, even though their sole income is from the tithes and offerings that you an I give. I calculated that I have given ntcc about $85,000 in tithe over the years. Doesn’t that count for anything? No way. Soon after that I see Mike Kekel tooling around in a brand new convertible Mercedes sports car ($65,000). Their son’s private schooling cost $18,000+ a year. You really get the impression that the Kekels have more money than they know what to do with—but don’t expect them to help you when you’re down and out. What does Tanya and her mother spend most of their time doing? Shopping (and everyone knows it).
Now, for those of you who think I jealous or envious, you’re wrong. I have no problem with a pastor living in a nice house and driving a new car. But, when almost all the church ministers are at the poverty level (and you know they are), while the leadership is living a life of intense luxury—something is seriously wrong. Why don’t you loyal ntccers open your eyes and see the obvious—that Davis has set up ntcc to make his family, and his only, incredibly rich. And he uses cult tactics to guilt trip everybody into giving their hard earned money to make them richer. (Even when I had no money to buy food for my family, or buy my kids clothes, I STILL paid my tithe). Are you aware that Davis’ house is valued at 1.1 million, and that Kekels’ is valued at $650,000. And both houses are decked out with the most expensive drapes, rugs, and furniture money can buy. Yet, if YOU want to buy a house, they will make you feel like you’re selling out God and putting the world first. How come they can have it, but you can’t?
So I left ntcc and it has been great. Yes, it was tramatic at first, because I felt like I had wasted 24 years of my life in a messed-up organization. But, God has blessed and I have made more money and been happier than anytime I was in ntcc. And I know it is God that has blessed me. They want you to think that those who leave ntcc are miserable, but it is ALL A LIE!!. Everyone I know who has left is doing great, and most find another church that appreciates them and lets them do what God wants them to do. There IS life after ntcc, and it is a whole lot better than what you have now.
Lastly, the reason I am speaking out against ntcc is because I am sick of the hypocrisy, the double standards, the fake holiness (where they dress holiness, but act without God’s love and mercy), the abusive pastors who never get punished, and the manipulation through fear and guilt of a lot of good men and women. NTCC has hurt a LOT of people. They have broken up families. They have destroyed good, godly men and women. They have caused much emotional and spiritual damage—sometimes permanently. Why does Tanya and her mother intentionally break up a marriage if one of the couples decides not to attend ntcc anymore? Where is that in the Bible? I thought Jesus said that what God has joined together, man should not separate? What hurt the most for me, was hearing that Davis and Kekel were going around lying about me, and saying I “misappropriated” money sent to us in PR. God and the angels in Heaven know that is a complete lie. They also say I left the church, because I wanted “money”. Sure I do—I was always living in poverty in ntcc, so why not want some money now that I’m out? I’m just trying to take care of my family like the Bible teaches. Davis and Kekel sure love money, and nobody seems to have a problem with that. At least I get my money honestly, without manipulating poor families into giving what they cannot, or jacking people up.
I honestly don’t know why some of you are still in ntcc. I guess, because they are so secretive of everything, and don’t let you talk to others in different works, you don’t see how bad things really are. When you do finally leave and look back with 20/20 vision, you’ll be shocked by what you see. And you’ll wonder why you didn’t leave years ago.

You are right, their riches are incredible and you know that they say that it is "god who has blessed them" mck says that it is because he has payed himself 20% since he started in his married life and because he is not jealous of others, then why hundreds of preachers that have served the same God haven't gotten wealthy? mck says that he knows of some preachers that are doing well, but who are they?
Were you ever in the kekels house and the davises house?
It is so lavishly furnished and the gilded dining furniture and the jacuzzi, but then you know that nobody will ever set a foot in those houses unless you are an A-lister. I dare anyone to go and try to even enter their fenced compound and you will be arrested for trespassing.
I am glad you are out. Thanks for your story, maybe it will open eyes to the reality that ntcc is.

Rev. Olson made it very clear that the church could not “afford” to help us more.
Oh yeah; they couldn't afford to help you with RWD and or Mike Kekel paying almost $20,000 a year to send Grant through private academy. Casey what are you thinking? Don't you know that I takes a lot of money for RWD and Kekel to keep up two very large houses in Graham? Why in the world would someone worry about their brother in need when they have all that land that requires a stiff property tax to be paid on?
Be ye warmed and filled Casey, and go clean Kekels and RWDs house and do their yard will ya. That is the way things are done around the NTCC and if you are lucky you too can move to the head of the roster to clean Tanya's house for her.
Makes me sick.
Jeff
There is alot more. Kekel has thousands of dollars of musical instruments that he never uses for the church. He has a $4000 handmade acoustic guitar, a $5000 mandolin (although he only paid $2500!), a steel guitar, a banjo, etc. When I first got back from PR they invited me over. They don't realize the damage they did by doing that. After being in intense poverty, I couldn't deal with being in their intense wealth. I had to use the bathroom while there and I almost cried.... seriously. Their houses are like something out of a glossy magazine. It's immoral. Plus, they have dirt bike(s) and quad(s) which they keep hidden from everyone. I asked someone who is still in if they ever saw the Mercedes sports car and they said never. Why does he hide the "blessings of God"? Because he knows that many would not understand.
He told me he didn't have a sports car. I talked to Mike and the subject of him owning a sports car came up and he denied it. Of course I wouldn't put this past him but was he lying?
The plot thickens.
Jeff
Jeff,
He passed me almost every day for months driving his son to private school in that Mercedes. He is either lying; sold it and is pretending he didn't have it; or Davis owns it. He also told another minister that the BMW 745 was his also. At the same time he still had his Ford SUV and possibly his Cadillac. That's 3 or 4 cars.
It's also interesting to note that Rev. Olson drives an older Cadillac, and Rev. Johnson has a very old Mercedes. Even though they are some of the top ministers in ntcc, they don't seem to have alot of money-- only Davis' family.
One more thing. Davis likes to buy the most expensive RV's to travel around the country. These motorhomes run from $200,000 to $300,000. Who do you think pays for those? He either has ntcc pay the whole thing, plus gas and expenses; or uses money from tithes and offerings. Either way, it is the church members and ministers that are paying for his expensive toys. Some food for thought.
Suck um dry baby. Anyone who can't see this is blind.
RWD and Kekel have it all figured out. Kekel is constantly lying or he is one of the most deceitful guys in the NTCC. He insisted that he didn't have a sports car when we talked. Kekel just does not tell the whole truth. So what if he did sell it or so what if it does belong to RWD? Kekel knows what we are talking about but he is so deceitful. And that is assuming that he is just not flat out lying.
Just like I always say; those guys are crooks.
Jeff
Guess what? Someone tried to Google "NTCC Columbus GA" and guess what site they clicked on?
This one.
True Stories Of Life In The New Testament Christian Church!!!
I'm sure they found out information about the NTCC that they didn't quite expect to find.
Just what the doctor ordered. It's working.
Jeff
Yeah, Mike doesn't have a sports car just like he didn't fondle his wife before they were married. It's all semantics; he would probably deny that his Mercedes convertible meets the definition of a "sports car." He claims he didn't "go there" before his wedding, too, but conveniently left out what he meant by "go there." But since he personally boasted to me and others about their sexually-charged premarital dalliances, his denial is revealed for what it is: weasel words.
These serpents speak with their forked tongues all the time. They're masters of the Big Lie, and have probably even deceived themselves about a lot of things. But they also engage in plenty of conscious deception, and one would do well to be maintain skepticism when dealing with them, no matter how smooth an act they perform. If they weren't good at what they do, some of us wouldn't have spent year after year swallowing the hype. Hopefully some will learn from our mistakes and avoid that fate.
OK, it was a Mercedes SLK 55 AMG. This is a top of the line model. Officially it is a "roadster" and not a "convertible"-- but the hardtop comes off. I'm sure Kekel was just confused about the definition of convertible. It retails for $65,000, has a 5.5L V-8 with 355 hp. I'm sure he needs all that horsepower to pick up all the people he's bringing out to church. Google it under Images to see a picture.
Rev Hayes,
I have one word to say, "WOW".
Have you ever thought about writing a letter to the Washington / Graham area editor of the local newspaper?
I am sure they would love to print your commetary for the masses to read.
I have been in the military for 15 years, plus four years in the Guard.
I always make it a point to shake anybody's hand who has done at least 20 years of service to their country and I find out about it.
I also make it a point to shake the hand of any veteran coming back home from downrange.
Being unable to shake your hand for your 24 years of faithful service, I SALUTE YOU!!!
Bro Johnson
Man,
I wish I was assigned to Fort Lewis, WA.
I would stand outside the Graham Chapel and protest every day if I could, non-violently, of course.
Then again, I do not like the idea of being thrown down in the mud. But that is still peanuts compared to the persecution that true Christians continue to go through to this day, even death.
I understand that the founder of any organization will surely be blessed wth some type of wealth.
When Solomon built the Temple it wasn't just for him to horde to himself, it was the pride of Israel.

That was a good one. I'm finding that these blog work pretty good at exposing the NTCC.
Jeff.
Bro. Johnson,
I'm not a "reverend" anymore, but I appreciate the respect. I don't know if contacting the local newspaper would do any good. But, personally, I want to move on and forget ntcc ever existed. However, I just needed to post some of this stuff, because I know hundreds of other people have gone through it, some of the friends I had in ntcc are going through it, and everyone sees the double standards even if they don't voice them publicly. I just hope these stories will help someone to escape the clutches of ntcc. They're a phony, abusive church masquerading as some holier-than-thou organization. As Marc Perez says, ntcc is just a shell company for the "Davis family real estate holding company".
Bro Casey,
Did NTCC revoke your license which negaes your Reverend status?
Just curious,
"To be forwarned is to be forearmed!!"
Bro Johnson
Negates, man I cannot spell today
:)
Bro Johnson
Bro Hayes,
In your honest opinion, Do you think Davis & CO started off with this Grand Scheme to siphon folks of their money, or had pure intentions but later went astray??
By the Way it should be an interesting Spring Conference, you embedded exNTCC sympathizers, keep us abreast please!!
//break//
PDQ, do you remember the By The Way stores in Korea? :)
Bro Johnson
Bro Johnson
Johnson,
No, ntcc didn't take away my license. I voluntarily did not renew it (not that an ntcc license is a "real" ministers license). I told Olson that I would not renew it, because I felt ntcc didn't care about me. I have no desire to be a minister in any church any more.
I don't know about Davis' true intentions when he started this church. My opinion (and this is just my opinion), is that he started ntcc, because he kept getting into trouble in previous churches, and wanted to be in control of a church where he could not be questioned. The narcissistic nature of Davis caused him to set it up so that he had total control of all the money, and doled it out as he saw fit (which primarily benefited him). He also set it up so that he was above being questioned about anything-- and if you did question his actions he would run you off.
Did he ever care about souls? Maybe, maybe not. But, due to his selfish nature he can never put other people's desires above his desires. Or put God's desires above his own desires. If you study out narcissists it says that many of them gravitate toward being religious leaders. Why? Because they are all about controlling others.
Bro Hayes,
Yes you are right. NTC licenses are as fake as the rolex watches the Korean merchants sell in Iteawon, Korea.
Hopefully the Print Shop at least laminates them so the print on the cheap paper does not (cough) "run away" when it rains.
"Professing a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof".
It burns me up with regards to Puerto Rico. Not to sound racist, but why did NTCC send you there? I'm sure you made a great attempt to learn the language, but it would make sense to send someone who speaks Spanaish ove there, just my humble opinion. It is almost like they new you would not have great success over there. So they send you over there to PR to flounder the next three years of your life. That is SORRY. If Davis is so intent on making NTCC a global outreach, he should lead the way and hang out in PR for three years. I am sure he would have all materialistic items to his disposal.
I gave towards all world missions when I could. I will never give to a world mission again.
Bro Johnson
Is it possible for someone to post pics of Davis' and Kekel's mansions on this blog for all to see?
MLJ
Well, I always wanted to meet a millionaire.
I met Davis a few times. I guess he qualifies as a multi millionaire.
Too bad other ministers in the Org live in poverty or are content to have less than Davis.
It is a mockey. I am thankful for the money I receive from good ol Uncle Sam, it pays the bills.
Kekel will inherit that money, so the guy was smart, he married the President's daughter!!
MLJ
What about the work in Panama? They send a preacher who doesn't speak spanish and only the wife speaks a little spanish.
Sometimes I think that the org. does things for a reason and they will do anything to bring somebody under duress so that they will leave the org. because they don't want them anymore or have use for them anymore.
Casey,
Your story makes sick to my stomach. How can they sleep at night( or any church member), knowing that you lie awake at night knowing where your family's next meal is coming from.
WTE
"Sometimes I think that the org. does things for a reason and they will do anything to bring somebody under duress so that they will leave the org. because they don't want them anymore or have use for them anymore".
Yea, like Rev Macdonald. McKekel states that he has a heart of gold. I mean, the man has been over in the Phillipines for over four years. Prior to that, he was in Korea for over four years. Prior to that, he was in Germany for a number of years. That equates to over 10 years overseas as a missionary.
I would get the feeling that I was not loved or wanted???????
Hello!!
MLJ
That is over TEN YEARS STRAIGHT.
Should not a man of Rev MacDonald's creditials be able to have a church in America??
Makes you Wonder!!!!!
MLJ
Bro Hayes,
You mentioned in an earlier post,
"One more thing. Davis likes to buy the most expensive RV's to travel around the country. These motorhomes run from $200,000 to $300,000".
Yea, I have seen his motorcade first hand. NTCC in Junction city just spent between 10K - 20K to have the parking area around their church repaved.
Davis comes rolling in with his RV and the Tires on the thing damaged the newly layed asphalt.
Man, that RV looked like a Command and control expandovan center!!!
And I was gullibale enough to buy them groceries...
MLJ
WTE,
I've asked myself that question many times, and don't understand their mentality. My personality can't be like that-- I would be helping people, and alleviating their suffering. I enjoy being a blessing to people. Isn't that the Christian way? The fact that they are unwilling to bless others and seemingly don't care about others suffering lets me know that they really are not true Christians. Jesus said they'll know you by your fruits.
Another thing that convinced me to leave ntcc was the fact that my employer, who was not a Christian, had compassion on me and my family and blessed us bigtime. He was amazing. The whole time I was wondering why the church didn't help us. Isn't that what churches are for? Being a church and being a Christian is alot more than preaching salvation or dresssing a certain way. It's about helping others, loving others, caring about others. The whole message of Jesus was to look outside of yourself and not be self-centered.
to casey:
it boggles my mind how you and your family had to endure such poverty when the org is/was well able to help you financially. that IS why we gave in all those world missions pledges, isn't it?
it also brings to mind the Fellowship Meeting Offereings pledges taken up during fellowship meetings. I remember the speil about these beig for the "new" works in that particular area.
did any of you all (ministers) ever receive from this offering when you went to a new place to pioneer a work? (fair question seeing as my family gave in those offerings for over 15 years.)
didn't the "churches" in the new testament, take up offerings for the MEMBERS of the church in Jeruselem? just wondering if I read that right.
and for raising questions such as these, "we" are considered bitter, evil, jealous, covetous, bashers and on and on.
signed, polaris
Polaris,
Where DID all that money go? Nobody seems to know who, if anyone, ever got that money. I remember being in a conference where something like $100,000 was raised. But the missionaries don't get a whole lot of help. What little help Puerto Rico got was NOT from World Mission offerings. As for Fellowship Meeting offerings-- same thing-- nobody knows where that money goes, because nobody ever gets help starting a new work. You have to use your own money. It's a big mystery.
I visited my Mom's church once, and on the back of the church pamplet it told you how much they receive every year in tithe and offerings($18 million), and broke down where all the money went. Amazing. In ntcc, if you ask how much is received every year and where it all goes, you will be met with complete silence and marked as a troublemaker.
well, what about it ntcc concerned ministers/supporters/defenders?
can you answer the question of where the money went without getting uptight, upset, defensive and evasive?
well??????
what about them offerings and pledges?
Well, I know that I paid for months on a pledge for Panama, only to find out that the work had been closed and NTCC had no one over there. When I busted them out, they acted all offended and came up with an interesting yarn about "escrowing" the money.
Seems like these "escrow" accounts are quite lucrative for them.
My purpose for sharing these stories is not to give you guys a sob story. But, I know for a fact, that many, many ntcc ministers go through the same thing-- and have to endure incredible suffering, receiving no help from the leadership whatsoever, spending what little money they have been able to scrape together-- all the while the leaders sit back and live a lavish lifestyle. It's wrong. Does anybody in ntcc really think that someone like the Kekels would be willing to sell everything they have, pack up an old car, and head out to pioneer a new work with a couple thousand dollars-- and no help from the church? No way Jose'. Yet, that is exactly what the majority of ministers in ntcc do.
scuse me while I hurl!
Ok NTCC just makes me sick.
I have to comment though... The church we go to now. Is awesome and I love it! It is small and still growing(and not because the preacher wants numbers because he is more intrested in reaching the lost then numbers) The local churches in our area in the beginning stages gave money to our church to help with the purchase of things needed, chairs, drums, sound system, etc. And our church is not part of any organization.
I am sure our Pastor has even used some of his own money in this process. As well as the rest of us.
So when I am reminded of how NTCC does not help their churches outside the compound in Graham it just makes me sick.
Here is a church that is just starting out and the community of churches(all different denominations) have reached out and helped. Without being asked. Without being guilt tripped. And NTCC can't even help out one of their own churches. It just makes me sick. I am so glad I left. There is no way I could or would have put up with that had I been a Pastors wife. That is just sick and wrong.
You wonder sometimes what happens to all this money that people give to the missions. I know that one time there was money collected for a car for the people in panama and the higher uppers got a wind of this and being that it wasn't them who started this probably didn't want to be seen as unhearted so the following service they announce that whoever wanted to donate money they could do so.
I don't know what happen after that. Maybe the missionaries never got a car and what happened to this money? It's probably in an escrow under the name of ashmore and defrancesco.
Casey,
After reading your story(and sharing it with my others) I do not understand why anyone would continue to give NTCC. Any of you NTCC-ers out there care to answer this question?
So your telling me at one tim you had at least 8 million dollars????
Can I be your friend????
-still waiting!!!
Hey Bro Hayes, Nice to know that you are now doing well... I was very shocked to hear your story as well as others who have now left NTCC. I have read a number of stories by former NTCC members and will begin postings that will hopefully bring healing and encouragement to them. Stay strong.
